Brinkman's are actually really serviceable, and that is a great price.

It's perfect for your purposes.

This was my very first smoker. Won grand champion in a BBQ competition with it. It's a great smoker for the price. It's really tough to maintain temp though. My biggest complaint was the temperature dial...if you want to call it that. It doesn't display temperature! Just lets you know if it's Warm, Ideal or Hot.

Have had mine for almost two years now. Bought the charcoal chimney starter, an electronic thermometer, and a cover. Still haven't used it . Maybe this winter I'll bust it out. Found some tips online on how other people have rigged their smokers up for better ventilation and such.

we bought an electric one for $65 for the lakehouse and it's great. No complaints whatsoever - It's not premier but it gets the job done and is well worth the minimal outlay.

Nikinik.....did you make any modifications to yours? Debating between this one or the electric, but most of the reviews had people talking about the poor air circulation due to the lack of holes in the charcoal pan and the need to drill holes to the ash can fall out and let air in.
