The Caterie will not make a return...

The Caterie, a live music landmark, is not reopening in the Acadian-Perkins Plaza shopping center, destroyed in a New Year’s Day fire. Bob Claitor, co-owner of the shopping center, says he’s negotiating with other taverns to move into the Caterie's former space. Claitor says he had hoped to bring the restaurant and bar back into the center.

One tenant that could be moving into Acadian-Perkins is Burgersmith, an upscale Lafayette hamburger restaurant. Claitor says he expects to sign a lease this week with the restaurant. The plan is for Burgersmith to move into the old AT&T space and install a drive-through window wrapping around to face Acadian Thruway. Plans are for the restaurant to extensively remodel the space. "They have a high level of standards," he says. This will be the second location for Burgersmith, which has a restaurant in Lafayette’s River Ranch development. AT&T will also move back into the center, taking up a spot at the corner of Acadian and Perkins. —

This burger restaurant shite's gotta stop. So now we have 5 guy's, that other one thats gonna be in the old Champs, and now this? How about an actual restaurant, that is somewhat nice? Or a restaurant with southern food. We have enough steak, mexican, and now burger restaurants, how about some local flavor. There ain't much to choose from here in BR.

yeah, i went to mug shots last night (old champps building) .. burger was pretty good .. but i agree, that concept is just played out here too ... hamburgers and sandwiches are just a lazy, unimaginative model ..

This too. We are seeing an influx of restaurants lately, but they are all the same. 3 burger joints, at least 4 sushi joints, and about 6 mexican joints.
We do have a few italian restaurants that i hear is good, but i've shy'ed away from italian food in the past, but may try them soon. DiGiulio's, Little Village, Ruffino's.
All we have in the way of southern food is Mike Anderson's and thats just more of a seafood restaurant. There is also Louisiana Lagniappe, but i wasn't impressed there.
If only John Folse would open something.

I bet BR would love to see something like the restaurants that have self-serve beer taps at the tables with rustic fair.....hell, just give them Sheppard's Pies and beer for days. Keep it simple and smothered in real gravy.....

Name another local chef close to BR.
There isn't any. They are all in NOLA. If NOLA can have numerous "local" restaurants, can't BR just have 1?
