Rocket's notes through 6 + update on Yao's foot

As it does every year with the Rockets, the injury bug has decided to strike early and often with AB out 4-6 weeks and Lowry playing 2-6 games with back problems. As if that's not enough according to Milicic after the Rockets win when asked about yao's play:

Obviously it wouldn't be a huge shock if Yao went down this year but what should they do if he's hurting already? He's already on restricted minutes and not playing in back to backs. Do you sit him until the all star break? After a 1-5 start, and losing your starting PG, it's hard to imagine things going worse but they may soon if Darko's statements are true. Either way, if you are a Rockets fan, you most likely are feeling a great deal of FML right about now. There are positive notes however.
Play will certainly get better from here for Chase and Kyle. Lowry will play much better than he has when his back stops giving him problems and there is no way Chase continues his current pace of 2-10 from the 3 point line. His shot looked great in pre-season and is in a complete funk Losing Brooks for 4-6 weeks sucks but Ish looked very good in the T-Wolves beat down and Taylor should get a chance to prove his worth for this team also. We have been in every game this year and 1-5 is about the absolute worst anyone could have imagined for this team. next 4 games are Was, Ind, NYK, and Chi who are a combined 9-13 so hopefully the Rockets can get to 4-6 or best case .500 before OKC on the 17th.

“He is a great player. He told me his foot is bothering him. It's kind of the coach to figure out his minutes and how to play him to get the most out of him. They really need him as their main number one option.”

...not good dude.
really expected rockets to at worst be a 4-5 seed this year. thought they made good off-season aquisitions and were 2 deep at every position. especially deep in the back court. plenty of shooters and ball handlers.
even without yao i figured they would be able to sucessfully be a uptempo team and score points on the break.
dunno. it's time for yao to go. unfortunately there aren't many big men available this upscoming off season that would make a splash or a difference for the rockets in the middle.

No, you can suck it. Go back to your own board, with your winning team

Unlike a certain poster on the Southwest Division board, (who has been extremly cranky towards other fellow Southwest Division fans) I would like to welcome you to my Rockets thread.
Would you like a soda?

you're the second person i've seen refer to the Rockets like the season is over. It's a shity start but it's 6 games in with 76 to go. Plus they have played close games with everyone except the T-Wolves who they blew out. Far from over.
The Yao situation is unfortunate but hopefully Darko mispoke.

Any chance Ish Smith entrenches himself as the starting PG til Brooks retrns?

I'll only drink your soda if it's a TAB and if Port opens it for me.

I think we need to sit Yao for another 1-2 months. We played 5 really good teams to start the season and we were in every game. Scola is playing lights out right now and Martin is playing better this year. I'm one of those people that likes Lowry a little more than AB so I don't see ABs injury as a huge deal. We have a ton of depth, so I think we can withstand a couple of injuries.

This is the plan for the Rockets moving forward, or at least till Kyle shows he is 100%.
A big reason i've heard the Dampier deal got split from the Rockets side is because they are going to need Ish for these next 6 weeks to start and are uncertain about Lowry's health so they couldn't move Taylor. Best case is Lowry makes a full recovery and get's the starting job though. A rookie will prove to be a rookie after a few games. I really liked Ish's game against minnesota but he was playing against Telfair and Ridnour. Plus the T-Wolves are the worst offensive team in the NBA so his defensive skills wern't tested at all.

not saying it's over, just saying it sucks that the weaknesses are showing this early in the season. So, it's hard for me to have much hope. no reason they can't still make the playoffs. lot of season left.
i say they sit yao and go on without him. if he get's healthy and can play normal minutes then fine. otherwise learn to play as if he is out for good, cuz he may well be soon.

You may not like the Lemon TAB Port brings you if he opens it.

As a rockets fan this makes me sad. As a luis scola fantasy owner this makes me happy.

Rondo I've got $50 that say houston finishes the season with a better record that the Hornets.

You already going to owe me $25 when the Hornets finish above .500
You need to quit making bets using your Red and White glasses.

I wouldn't bet on that A. Sure 6-0 looks like it'll lead to a better than .500 record, but I know better.

Will I pass my renewable resources test tomorrow?

What's wrong with Dampier?
