Rise of the Tide, Fall of the Tiger (Revisited)

I posted this thread almost a year ago to the week. As you can see at the end, I tried to get some feedback from many of the bashers and no one would respond.
At any rate, when you get the chance, take a look back at the thread (it is rather large) and see if your feelings have changed at all with Alabama now winning the BCS title and with further knowledge of the direction of the program under Miles and Company...
I thought about just linking this in the prediction thread, but felt that it is interesting enough to merit its own thread for comparison's sake.
Enjoy...

That's the problem Doc. This isn't new. Check out mine from 1 year ago:
re: At the end of the day (Posted on 10/15/09 at 3:20 p.m. to LSU Wayne)

I agree. No one can point to any improvements, so they bash. You can be a fan and remain objective at the same time.
Maybe someone can respond to this question. If Russell Shepard and/or Rueban Randall were at Bama or Florida, do you think that they would be a major part of the offensive equation or just VIP spectators?
Can someone explain why we show so many blitz packages in bowl games, but play bend don't break during the regular season? Don't give me the b.s. about prep time (4 weeks vs 5 days). It is proven that if you blitz the average college QB, they are not athletic enough to avoid the blitz and make bad decisions. Blitz packages are learned in spring and August.
If "the product" remains the same, and continues to erode, people will not come. Period.
Tiger Stadium is becoming the "Big House" of the South. Pack 'em in, get rowdy early, and let Miles' game plan take all of the air out of the ballon. Last Saturday night, there was a perfect example. The crowd had long been removed as a factor in the game. It was the 3rd quarter., and Scott ran for 4 yards up the middle. It was the loudest applause since the first quarter. 4 yards and a cloud of dust gets an ovation. Can you say Michigan vs. Northwestern. Now that's football!!
Bottom line, there are coaches across the land that would need a bib if you told them that they could have our talent. These players would contribute immediately with any other system or coach. In Baton Rouge, they become UAW members, and wait their turn according to seniority.

I find it interesting that just a year ago, so many people defending Miles in view of Saban. I think it is safe to say that even on the Rant, there is probably not one poster who still thinks that (1) Miles is as good as or better than Saban at coaching and developing a program, and (2) that LSU and Bama are going in the same direction as a program.
Is there anyone left who honestly thinks that Miles could or will win another national title in his coaching career at LSU, or anywhere else for that matter?

I read the first few pages of that thread, crazy how that thread could almost fit perfectly into this season...nothings changed and were at about the same point in the season as wewere when that thread was started.

I will bet $100 if we won on Saturday, this thread would not exist.
And btw. Bama has 1 loss as well and still tends to come out flat in games. (Just like it was in 2004 after our championship in 2003) So what is your point?

We didn't win...so what's your point. My point is that we are two programs going in different directions IMHO. Moreover, the secondary point is that the LSU program is at best stagnant.

Yes - there are still people on this board that consider Miles an elite coach.
Miles defines above average not excellence. We will be program that wins 7 to 9 games consistently. However, we will not consistently win our division let alone the SEC. Just the way it is.
The sad part is that we have no guarantee that any replacement for Miles will do better. His recruiting alone has allowed us to stay competitive the past 3 years.

That's why a new coordinator really could be the fix. Regardless of Miles, Crowton has proven time and again that his numbers will consistently fall off year after year (or stay at the bottom where they are now if he lingers at any one place). There has got to be a guy out there who 1) can at least do an average job developing our talent and 2) can work with Miles, taking a general offensive philosophy from him while creating his own system.

Miles is a good representative for our university.
Like all of us, he makes mistakes. Crowton and Stud are disasters. If Miles brings in the right OC and OL coach, we should show major improvement on the offense.

what do you want, a pat on the back for recognizing the obvious (that Saban is a better coach than Miles)? Everyone else just didnt want to say it a-hole, dont be proud of your "brilliant foresight"...
Seeing this happen has been like a train wreck in slow motion. But thanks for pointing out and bragging about it you phony LSU fan... I bet you would rather us lose so your prediction could come true, meanwhile the rest of us were hoping and praying that it wouldnt happen, even if we could tell it was...Here's to the true tiger fans you frickin a hole...
