We're not spoiled

I'm so sick of hearing that LSU fans are spoiled and hearing about Miles 58-16 record. Lets look into a little bit and see if the 58-16 record really holds water. His first 3 years and the last 3 years
Year W-L SEC vs Top10
2005: 11-2 (7-1) *2-1*
2006: 11-2 (6-2) *2-2*
2007: 12-2 (6-2) *3-0*
That comes out to a 34-6 record, 18-5 SEC record and 7-3 against Top 10 teams from 2005-2007. This garnered 2 SEC West titles, 1 SEC Championship and 1 National Title.
Year W-L SEC vs Top10
2008: 8-5 (3-5) *1-2*
2009: 9-4 (5-3) *0-2*
2010: 7-1 (4-1) *0-1*
24-10 record, 12-9 SEC record, 1-5 against top 10 teams. 0 SEC west titles.
Of those 24 victories, 12 came out side of the SEC. Of the 12 non conference wins 7 of them came against these teams: Louisiana Tech, Troy, Tulane, App. State, McNeese, UL-L and North Texas.
So 59 percent of his victories at LSU came in his first 3 years. 63% of his losses have come in the last 3 years.
LSU fans aren't spoiled. We see Miles record for what it really is. Inflated by 3 great years. The media and other fans are deceived by 58-16. We can see a program in decline.

Exactly. Les may be 58-16 on paper but if you factor in moral defeats he's 16-58. That's worse than Curley Hallman. Fire Les Miles NOW!

Here's what I don't get.
-Still recruiting top 5 classes.
-Still selling out the stadium.
-Still graduating players and keeping kids out of trouble.
We're 7-1 this year. We have the best defense in the conference (bad performance yesterday notwithstanding), with 2 of our remaining 3 conference games at home.
If we go 2-1 in those games, we'll have 10 wins. With a bowl 11.
What exactly is "on the decline" there?

I've been a Miles backer but you can't ignore the numbers. He took over a top SEC team and turned it into a middle of the pack SEC team. Which means we'll beat MOST of the teams we're supposed to, lose here and there to teams we're supposed to beat and lose to the top SEC teams. Which gets you...what do you know 8-9 wins 3-4 losses.

We've played 6 top 10 teams in 3 years. We've beaten 1 of them. The number may as well be 0-5 because the top 10 team we beat....#10 Auburn which finished 5-7 and unranked
You don't see the problem here?

No, he did bring in the best group of DB's LSU has had in over 30 years, maybe ever.

As long as OBUDan can get his thrills by reading about 16 and 17 year old boys he's ok.

Which has resulted in what? How many SEC championship games?

Miles has succeeded in exposing many of our so called "fans" as bandwagon hacks. The sooner these bandwagonners permanently hitch their mouths to Saban's ballsack, the better off we'll all be.

In 2008/2009 he has a combined 4-5 record in November.

If this happens it presumably means losing to Alabama, and winning Arky and Ole Miss. A 10 win season. Great. But you're content with losing to the top teams in the SEC again? Its been 3 years since we beat any of the SEC's top teams.

Whoooaaa. You just filled in some blanks you shouldn't have. Those are the very type of games we've lost late in the year recently that have caused our SEC decline and you're assuming wins?

No. The fanbase is not spoiled. No other fanbase has ever gone through anything quite like this. It's frustrating.
On the one hand, the program has definitely not been in decline. The 2004 team was mediocre and Miles came in, and despite 2 subpar recruiting classes in 2005 & 2006, managed to keep the program operating at a higher talent level than it ever has been before.
But weird things are catching up with us. Things keep happening that don't make sense.
I have gratitude for what Miles has been able to accomplish here, but based on what's happened the last 3 years, I seriously doubt that he can keep the program operating where it is. Everything looks like it's about to fall apart, and for reasons that have to do with coaching blunders on the most elementary aspects of strategy and game management. It doesn't make any sense.
It wears you out as a fan. I don't mind cheering for an undermanned team that grits it out and plays hard but doesn't always come out on top. But when you have a team that continually shoots itself in the foot, it just starts to take the fun out of being a fan, no matter how much the overall talent level bails the team out. It's not the reason why anybody becomes a fan in the first place. You become a fan to watch people come together and accomplish great things by working as a team. You do not become a fan to watch very talented teams skate by while also demonstrating shocking incompetence on all manor of game objectives.
If you're only looking at the record, you're missing the point.

Who have we lost to that we were an overwhelming favorite?.
LSU fans aren't spoiled. you are right. We were this crazy before the crystal footballs. I remember this place going nuts in 03 after the UF game. Calling for the almighty Saban's head. We are what we are. The good and the bad.

Agreed. Miles always always seems to lose a game that he isn't supposed to. We should beat both Arkansas and Ole Miss but it would be par for the Miles course if his team slipped up and lost one or both of those.
