We obviously have played some of the poorer offensive teams in the league. Still, the idea of this defense going from average to good is an exciting prospect.
Right now the Saints sit at 5th in Pts Allowed out of teams that have played 6 games. 108pts = 18 per game. They drop one notch if the Titans allow less than 13 tonight. That's a decent improvement from last year's 20th rank.
I'll take that direction. Another young developing defensive playmaker in the '11 draft and/or FA signing could be pretty damn sensational.

Do those stats take into account the fact that 14 of the 30 points in Arizona were on the offense (pick six and fumble return)? If not, technically the defense is allowing less per game. I realize that they usually don't take that into account, but is still interesting to note.

good point. I'm not really all that big on NFL stats anyway. Bottom line: we're seeing a clear step change of improvement overall with perhaps less talent than last year. Takeaways less but that is kinda flukish. You can be aggressive and good in it. The bounces off fumbles and tips can vary the final numbers a lot though.

I'd like to see the breakdown of passing yardage against the Saints. I would imagine throws to the TE have the bulk of the yardage.

That, or since the Saints have yet to run the ball well themselves(sans Bucs) teams haven't needed to become pass desperate like last year. The Saints outside of TE catches are probably top 8 pass defense in the league, I would guess.
