Saints Offense Vs. TB Defense

It seems this year there have been very few threads about the games themselves. More on personalities and issues. This may not be must-win yet but it is a very important one. The outcome has the potential to be tied for first place at 4-2 or fall two full games behind.
What are ya looking for O vs. D?
-Balance more towards the run. The 207/116 P/R ratio so far is more like '07-08 than last year. Besides the turnovers Betts/Ivory look like they can fill the void. Even with 1st/2nd Rd DT picks TB run D is allowing a 2nd worst 4.9yds per carry. I'd like to see the 121yds Panther game surpassed. The other 4 games averaged 64yds rushing, ouch.
-I haven't noticed, is TB still heavy Cover 2? I'd expect plenty of it with the success teams have had restricting the Saints deep balls.
-I can't speak for TB QB pressure but they do have a league low 4 sacks. Maybe the 158.3 QB rating week for Brees we've looked for.
-QB rating will be helped by seeing the % of dropped passes diminish significantly
-Red Zone efficiency is a MUST improvement area. Now at 37% TDs, ranked 24th won't get this team into the playoffs.
-TB Personnel:SS Sean Jones will prolly play but may not be 100%. Rookie FS Cody Grimm starts his 2nd game.

Protect the ball.

Red zone scoring must be solved. This is the biggest disappointment for me personally. Im not one to bitch about the lack of big plays. We've had great drives. We just need to stick it in. Put the ball in hole. Get up in the endzone's guts.

Red zone offense is pissing me off.
We have brees, shockey, Colston, Moore and we can't consistently put the biscuit in the basket???
It's bad playcalling to run a waiver wire RB even once when Brees has these options to throw to in tight situations. Devery ain't a bad GL weapon either.

It's a matter of the Saints D containing Tampa's young QB who is super confient right now, you can tell by the shite he talks!

The same thing that did it for us last year.

They're also second in the league in interceptions so I'm not so sure about that (although I'd love to see any rating above 100). They're ninth against the pass and have allowed an avg QB rating of 65. Of course they've also played the Panthers, Browns, Steelers. and Bengals so they haven't faced a QB anywhere close to Brees' level (Palmer is still living on name, but in fact has been an avg. QB since coming back from surgery). TB's soft spot is run defense. If SP can dedicate himself to pounding the ball early and often, it may open up some deep stuff. But I expect Tampa to sit back in their base defense (Brees is much more effective against the blitz and Nickel packages) and make the Saints show some patience.

What about saints defense v Tampa offense

All we have to do is keep Freeman in the pocket and stay in our lanes.....box him in. He gets all his production outside the pocket...he can scramble.

Mike Williams, their rookie playmaker WR, is a gametime decision. Apparently hurt his foot in the Bengals win. that'll be interesting.

They've really struggled to run the ball consistently. Freeman is their second leading rusher. He has continued to progress as a passer, but he doesn't have a whole lot of weapons. Mike Williams is their biggest threat on the outside, but I'm more concerned about Winslow. The other thing they have going for them is that they haven't turned the ball over. Freeman only has 3 picks. In fact, they're turnover ratio is the primary reason they're sitting at 3-1.

I'm looking to see a resurgence of our OL to it's form from a year ago.

Stinchcomb is really struggling. He's already given up as many QB pressures through 5 games as he did ALL of last season. Add in a couple of bad penalties and it's been an ugly start. He's not the only one struggling (Evans has been inconsistent), but from what I've seen, Stinch is costing us the most. Run defenses don't get any softer than Tampa's so it'd be a good time to pound the ball and take some pressure off of Drew.

Yea, I don't get why we've been so hell bent on runnin the ball into the endzone!
