1. Call the sheriff, report trespassers, give them the pictures. We've caught trespassers several times and have them arrested every time. Now we are known as the people that have cameras all over their property and that we will prosecute. If you know one of the local store owners, go there with the pics and ask if they know the people.
2. If you shoot someone trespassing and your life wasn't in danger, you will go to jail for a nice long time. You will have to prove that your life was in imminent danger.
3. I would imagine they thought they got by the camera and took the camera out with them. Then they got scared that they would get caught and prosecuted for theft and then replaced the card without thinking about deleting their pics. Is it the same SD card that you normally use?

Not so in Texas, but if they are armed it will not be too hard to prove imminent danger.

actually going straight to the DA... is the best route...
