just some drills and some discussion. It is entirely different than a throwing motion thing like VY's side arm, or Tebows delivery, because Lee throws some of this throws with excellent mechanics, and some with poor mechanics. This is different, and since he has the capacity and has shown that capacity many times, drills can aid him as time moves on. Can it be eliminated completely, probably not, but lessening it will aid him as his time at LSU continues on.

what you don't want during the season is a qb thinking too much when he's throwing. just like a pitcher in baseball. what you do want is him focusing on other things, the play, the field, the wr's. no thinkee about mechanics. those need to be worked on off season. sometimes a minor correction is needed if timing of throws is off, but if his passes are hitting the mark, the coaches should STFU and worry about other things. make sense? i was a pitching coach and have learned from that experience.

They can't figure out how to manage the clock. Do you think that they can teach throwing mechanics?

specifically which throws did Lee make off of his back foot, and which of those cost the team? You seem to be making the claim that this is hurting the team...

Cause they cant teach those pesky defenders not to get to him so fast!

Truthfully, once they let him practice and play with teh 1's more often, he'll hopefully be more comfortable and start stepping up in teh pocket instead of backing away.

QB coaches need to preach this daily and TEACH it.

watch the throw to Toliver on the drive. I am not saying it cost LSU, but that it might. I think some drills could reduce this issue, and I am 1)wondering whether the coaches are paying attention to this, and 2) if there are any specific drills they are aware of that could limit this from occurring. That's all I am really saying. Lee's arm is strong enough that he still had good enough zip to hit Toliver, but he was not stepping into that throw by any means.

hopefully he is getting more reps with 1st team offense and will see much more time in florida game. i still believe if miles gives him the chance he gave jj. we wont see much of jj again....

JL mechanics are light years ahead of JJ. It is not even close.

He does, however, sometimes rely on arm strength alone to get the pass off. This will bite him at some point, let's just hope it is not at crucial point in the game. This should have been fixed the first year he was here.

Unfortunately, there is not adequate time to make any adjustments this year that would translate to being a natural part of his game.

The last thing we want is for him to be in the pocket thinking, "ok, don't throw it off your back foot."

This.

Lee is best in the back half of the 4th quarter. He tends to not think as much. He just plays.

watching now for throws to TT... on the 3rd and 13 he stepped into the throw fine and threw a strike

on the 3rd and 9 he was hit throwing, but appeared to basically throw it away...are you saying he should have taken the sack?

on the 4th and 14 he stepped into the throw fine

on the first down he threw to DP stepping into the throw

I am hoping that Lee starts and goes all the way. Please bench JJ... who is only a practice QB. JJ Looks great in practice...

ETA: A lot of it is getting in-game experience, and shame on our coaching staff for continuing to invest that precious time in a QB that clearly was not going to take us to the level we all want to see.

Would it not be JL's responsibility to work on these flaws?...other than that, I agree...YOU CAN LEAD A HORSE TO WATER, BUT YOU CAN'T MAKE HIM DRINK IT....

this is an over rated critique of qbs. they feel pressure in the pocket and results in off balance throw. this is because they have stepped up in the pocket before and taken sacks and turnovers. some qbs have a better feeling for the pocket and pressure. when lee has time he has one of the better quick releases in college football.
