He hasn't been involved in college football for over 20 years and was only a .500 pro coach.

He won one season-- with dungy's players.

I don't know if he is a feasible option, but he's won a Superbowl, he can sell his NFL experience to recruits, he's energetic, and presumably he isn't a dunce.

The reason I don't like Gruden is b/c he will be back in the NFL. So say he comes to LSU and has success. Well then he is off to the NFL like Saban.

I want a college football coach who will stay at LSU. Saban will always say his worst mistake was leaving LSU!

Whether Gruden is the answer, pro coaching records for college coachses don't really mean much. Saban, Spurrier, Carroll, are three examples of not very successful coaches in the pros but all who have done pretty well in college.

Notre Dame thought Charlie Weis was going to be a great coach too.

Jon Gruden to LSU is a Tigerdroppings urban myth.

Gruden took Oakland to the Super Bowl before he "won with Dungy's players". And he is great with QBs. I've never been one to say go get Gruden but I certainly wouldn't mind it

That's a really poorly thought out argument against Gruden for obvious reasons.

And FWIW, I think Gruden is about the most sure fire hire LSU could make assuming he actually wanted to coach in college (which I very seriously doubt).

so was Orgeron. Didn't work out so well for the rebels. It amazes how much the Rantards go for these qualities. There are plenty of great coaches who don't jump up and down on the sidelines.

he can also "speak good" and has a purty mouth.

I'd rather have a diamond in the rough kinda guy who is earning his way up in the college ranks. You know. Like when he-who-shall-not-be-named was hired in '99.

Chris Landry was asked about Chuckie. He said he was okay with x's & o's, but he thought he was a poor evaluator and developer of talent. Clayton is a good example and he left both Oakland and Tampa in shambles. Landry did not think he would be a good program builder. May win quickly, then leave program a wreck.
