Crowton's history with QBs

Why is Crowton so good with QBs that are already matured when he gets a hold of them, and so bad with younger QBs? For the life of me, I can't figure this out. When he took over he and Flynn and produced one of (if not the) most prolific LSU offenses ever. Same at La Tech with Rattay if my memory serves.
Can anyone offer up a theory on bi-polar nature of Crowton's offense?

just look up Dennis Dixon and John Becks stats during and after Crowton, you'll see.

Answer: Crowton is not a SEC-caliber OC.

He would be one of the best offensive coordinators to ever grace college football if he changed schools every season.

He's solid at strategy and terrible at development?

Crowton can not recruit QBs.

Gary Crowton is a good offensive coordinator when he doesn't run his offense and doesn't play with his players.

I thought that is why we hired Billy Gonzales as the "passing game coordinator." How do you think that is working out so far?

Just wait till Gary has to develop his own QB, you LSU fans will forget that national championship faster than you can say “3 years of rebuilding”

As an Oregon fan I can say the biggest problem that I had with Crowton was his inability to design plays to get to the playmakers on the team. He had a set group of plays he liked to call, and he would call them no matter what. He couldn’t seem to recognize a players strength, and adjust his play calling to match. That in my opinion is huge in college football because you are dealing with young players who are continuously growing and changing from the time you sign them to the time they leave your program.

My theory is that Crowton is terrible at coaching QBs. When he takes over an offense with a QB who has been properly coached, he does well because his schemes can be complicated and requires good, accurate throws and reads by a confident QB.
When it comes to actually teaching a QB fundamentals, how to read a defense, how to properly throw the ball, etc.. he has no clue on how to teach... This in turns ruins the QBs confidence in themselves running this scheme. His playcalling doesn't help things because once a defense starts figuring him out he panics and starts calling plays that make absolutley no sense with the intention of throwing the defense off.

Like continuously running JJ in the option?

Gary Crowton has ruined the possibility of at least one good QB...I imagine his staying had an effect on Zach Lee's decision to go to the Dodgers because just a week before that he convinced everyone here that he was a Tiger and he was here to play football. As for Billy Gonzales i doubt he has much of a say so as far as the QB goes...ill bet hes mainly a WR's TE type of guy...Just baffles my mind how Jefferson goes to the Manning camp and gets advice from all of the Mannings, stays hours after practice with his recievers in the spring to build chemistry and studies film only to get worse...IT HAS TO BE THE COACHING.
