Probably Germans but I haven't seen anything about it so here we go....

Lets say Miles has a 9-3 or possibly a 10-2 season, and still gets fired (or resigns) this year or the next. Will another coach want to come here to coach knowing that even though you win in a mediocre fashion you will be chastised to the point of no return. I don't support a lot of the decisions Miles makes. However how do you expect another coach to feel comfortable in an environment that not only do you have to win you have to be completely dominant doing it.

Disclaimer: This is not in defense of Miles in anyway nor do I mean by this post that I support his offensive decisions. This is simply a question about the apprehension another coach may face about taking over LSU.

Other coaches around the country are confident that they can do Les Miles' job as well as he does. Coaches are cocky that way.

saban wasn't scared by high expectations at bama nor was mayere at uf. the big time coaches have huge egos and think they will be a good job no matter what.

didn't think so. it won't scare off any coach who knows what he's doing

Doesn't really matter because he would never be fired for going 9-3 or 10-2.

I'm pretty confident that any quality coach that we might be interested in would clearly understand why Leslie is "seeking other opportunities" - don't you think? If not, we probably don't want them anyway.

Do you honestly believe that Miles will get fired or resign for going 9-3 or 10-2? Come on you guys really need to pull up some old videos of the Hallman/Archer/Dinardo years and be thankful we are loaded with talent and go to bowls every year.

Depends on the current situation of the coach. Leach would come to lsu in a heartbeat...CPeterson probably wouldn't

Anyone who thinks Miles should be fired at 9-3 or 10-2 can pretty much have their opinion immediately discounted and muted.

Not necessarily saying you are stating that here, but nonetheless, my statement holds true.

Coaches do inherently have egos of epic proportions so that in itself will allow us to get a top knotch replacement. Also, please find me a national analyst, pundit, etc. that will go on record saying that Miles is a force to be reckoned with in the coaching world. You won't. That's because on the national scene and among his peers(which is where most of the media gets the info to form their opinions of coaches) consider him a complete idiot and know that he has underperformed with cards he's been dealt. Lastly, this is a moot point if he goes 9-3 or better. Sorry, if he wins 9 or 10 he's staying for atleast another 2 years.

Does it really matter? We won't get the coach we want. We won't lure a big time, established coach to just switch jobs. I'm basing this on past precedent. When was the last time LSU made a splash with a football hire? I've seen LSU hire four coaches since I've been an LSU fan, none of them were exciting. The administration would have to take a flyer on some up and comer, and then, who knows what you're going to get? Remember what happened to Nebraska after they went out, and fired a coach after nine wins.

I'm not a Miles fan.

This would not get him fired....and getting there with our current QB situation is unlikely unless there is a change and then it's still an "if".

If LSU steps up to the table with $$$$$, and you know they well + coaching egos as others have said it would be no problem in getting a quality HC, and here is another "if"! If they start the coaching search early enough. IMO when Saban left it many coaches had already signed contracts.

These and the talent pool available in this state I think it would be no problem.

If the team plays to their potential, then I have no beef, but the coaches are failing the players miserably. If we have 112 ranked offense talent, then I will have to live with 112 ranked offense. I don't think we have 112 ranked talent on offense.

Ask Nebraska what happens when you fire a coach for going 9-3. Took their program 10 years to recover!
No one wants that job!

IF Miles goes 10-2, then he will have done something right with the offense that we have not seen thus far....if he goes 10-2, he does not get fired....

Regardless of how inept Miles appears at times, there is no justification to fire a 10-2 coach. The offensive coordinator definitely...not the HC. Nebraska fired Zolich after a 9-4 season and you see how long it took them to be relevant again.

+1..should not be a concern, not anymore.. besides,

behind the scene,
I am sure that the other coaches have noticed the blunders..and would not LSU accountable, not to mention a 3 MM + position for a winning coach.

Sure it would scare coaches off.

Everyone knows that places like LSU, UF, Alabama, and the like are places where you go to get job security. If you fire Les, that will tell everyone that your job isn't secure at LSU and that's not the place to go.
