That is a tall dude. He stands out for sure.

i have played with him a lot at rec. Very nice guy, hope it works out for him.

I posted something on the SEC Rant about him. But I'm pretty good friends with him and I played bball a lot with him at the rec. I think if he gets proper coaching he can be a solid backup IMHO. His progression from when we first started playing to a year later was tremendous. His only downside is his conditioning. That has to get a lot better a lot faster. But I think he'll be fine when he gets the coaching he needs.

seven feet tall and 286 lbs.
He can at least take on the role Quienten Thornten did a couple of years ago as a guy that plays for a couple of minutes.

Is he any good?
He scores 4-5 points a game with his size alone. He doesn't play the best competition at he rec (at least when i'm playing him) and most guys are between 5'9 to 6'2. He definitely has improved a lot between the time I met him and the last time we played.

the guys on the video say it best..."is he on the basketball team?"
Seriously how desperate is Coach Johnson for size if we go get a member of the freaking band?

This was on the radio last week. He's not expected to see much playing time but is supposed to help them prepare in practice. Johnson is a terrible recruiter so far. He's the next coach fired

Damn! Dude's a walk-on. It's not like he's starting or anything.

The article pretty much says that he is on the team as an experiment.
With that size, there is no reason not to put him on the practice squad, run his arse off, see how hard he works and see if he gets any better.
Its obvioulsy a project and he is not really expected to make a contribution this year.

A 7-footer who only scores 4-5 points a game (with his size alone) against 5-9 to 6-2 players? Sounds pretty bad.

"THere's our left tackle" "holy crap, is he on the basketball team"

Not to be harsh, but this dude is GOD AWFUL! I played with and against him about a dozen times at the rec and he was never the leading scorer or intimidating defender. To be 7'0 and plays against a bunch of 6 footers and NOT dominate is just sad. He needs a shite ton of coaching in order to even get on the floor and not be a liability. I played against a bunch of 6'5 and 6'6 players in high school who would run circles around and destroy this poor kid. I guess TJ is just desperate for a big body and hopes he can coach this kid to be able to not frick up.

His interviews were gracious.
He knows he is not in shape and he hopes he can help the team during practice. He is not even acting concerned about PT.
