if JJ and lee both can't pass, why not get shep back at QB????

if lee and JJ are so bad that the coaching staff is going to live and die by the run, why not move shep back to QB?
facts
-----
-no one can say for certain if crowton or miles is calling the plays (or both) but whoever it is clearly has decided the offense will live and die running the ball. whether or not the offense would be more effective airing it out more is irrelevant because it ain't going to happen w/ this coaching staff.
..read the above paragraph over and over again until you understand the reality of the situation before continuing..
-JJ has had 20 games to show he can run the offense and has not only not improved, but regressed horribly.
-JJ has avg. football running ability at best and is QB'ing an offensive system that requires an above average running QB.
-after a miserable freshman year, lee was given his opportunity again last year against a shite horrible la. tech team and was 7/22 for 105 yds while being boo'd off the field. there is no reason to think lee will do significantly better than JJ currently is.... especially in an offensive system that lives and dies by the run.
-putting shep at QB gives lsu the best chance to win week in and week out as long as the powers that be have decided to live and die by the run.
-michigan and lsu are totally different teams with different strengths and weaknesses (blah blah blah) but shep was a much higher rated athlete and QB than michigans current stud and it's working out pretty damn good up there. *no im not saying shep would be better.
bottom line: for whatever the reason (that can be debated in another thread), this offense is going to live and die by running the ball so it only makes sense to put someone at QB who can play to this systems strengths.

Since when are we living and dying by the run? We threw more than we ran last night when running the ball was most effective.

100% agree. Look at what Michigan did. They took their athlete/quarterback, and built the offense around his strengths.
No question, Shep has a ton of talent and athleticism. Not sure WR is his strength, as his hands are questionable.
Why not do the same with Shep? Can our offense be worse? At least until we can recruit a competent QB.

do you really think out coaching staff could build the O around Shep.... They have had 2 years and still haven't built the O to the strength of JJ .. even though there aren't many but there are some that they haven't exploited

Hey, JL's stat this season is 2/2 (100%) for 22 yards. Why did you say he can't pass?

Apples and oranges.
JJ has no real strength. He's a below average runner. He's a below average passer. His only "quality" that sets him apart IMO is he has experience, but it doesn't show. What strength do you think JJ has that hasn't been exploited.
Now, Shep is a playmaker. He can't be a drop back passer. But, he can be a runner/rollout passer/playmaker.

its not so much the number of passes vs. runs as it is when they occurred. i've never seen a team run on 2nd and 5+ at this rate. sure, if that leaves 3rd and 5+ then a passing play will be called in more often than not (but still less too often) but that's the exact style of an offensive system that heavily relies on the run.
i honestly can't believe i'm having to debate that this offensive system is designed to flourish when a strong running game sets up the occasional pass and not the other way around.

Because the coaching staff doesn't want to injure Jefferson's fragile psyche.

not sure but i do know this coaching staff cannot develop an offensive system built around a heavy dose of QB option and HB/QB draws with JJ or lee.
square hole meet round peg.

i dont think that's it because miles is the one allowing JJ to get tortured by the fans when he clearly should have been yanked by now.
i think it has more to do with miles being stubborn and never wanting others to see that he's capable of making mistakes. that will be his downfall.

not sure if you were at the game or watching it on TV, but when they showed Lee with his helmet on and getting ready to enter the game in the 3rd quarter, they also panned over to JJ, and it looked like he was ready to cry. I'm beginning to think that the coaching staff does not want to offend JJ by benching him.

so this same caring coaching system will allow the fans to have the same effect on the kid? how does that make any sense?

At least let him run the wildcat.

Crowton needs to start preparing Spencer Ware for the backup QB role for next season.

If we're going to be predictable running the option with a quarterback that can barely attack the line and run it with any effectiveness, we might as well be predictable with a quarterback that knows how to do it and can do it well.

JL has not had an opportunity to play in a meaningful part of a game this year. Kid has a hll of an arm and even coaches acknowledge that he has made great strides, but bull headed LM won't give him a shot.
This just in -JJ has video of LM in a dog and pony show,
That explains it all.

miles always makes up shite. if he has made such great strides he would have been given a shot long ago. i've learned to trust miles' actions, not words.

doesnt matter who is playing qb. the coaches have their head up their asses. The one time lee threw it was on 3rd down and not even past the 1st down marker. Its like they were trying not to move the ball down the field in the second half.
