Do they line up in a 3-3-5 of do they pull safeties up in the box? I hear it's hard to run on WVU's 3-3-5.. what makes it different?

It was hard for Coastal Carolina, Marshall and Maryland. Oh, and John Curtis, Evangel and Hahnville.

Didn't Oklahoma even have problems with it?

335 stack

-Can bring run support and blitz from various positions
-Difficult to pick up where it is coming from

Oklahoma had issues with it as did UGA

Your 2010 team hasn't played Oklahoma or Georgia.

There will be 8 guys in the box.

Just like every other team we play.

The point was, it's hard to run against. Last year, this year, your birth year..whatever.

they walk up lb's or safeties to line of scrimmage; stewart says they may play an extra de this week which would mean two de's, nt and ng. play action is going to be brutal for them.

so he's gonna pull off a player for another DE.. will he take out a LB and make a 4-2-5.. or pull a secondary player and run a 4-3 on us? i see holes in both of those line ups against our offense

And you keep thinking that it will not be affective.

That is why they play the game

Running a 335 let's you have another skill player on the field. It's tough to score on put it can sometimes backfire. Probably the best way to beat it is to pound the middle, force them into a 4 man front then play action over the top. I may be wrong but it's my opinion.

I am sure they are terrified of our passing game!

It may effective but not affective. Point is, we know what our team can do, you guys will find out what yours can or can't do Saturday night.

130th out of 112 FBS teams in SOS. You have played NOBODY.

Interesting statistics from West Virginia's 2009 defense:

Total Defense: #36 in the country with 335 yards per game

Passing Defense: #46 in the country with 209 yards per game.

Rushing Defense: #37 in the country with 126 yards per game.

Now, defensive number against the five best teams they played in 2009:

v. Auburn - 400 total yards (300 passing, 100 rushing)

v. UConn - 501 total yards (328 passing, 123 rushing)

v. Cincinnati - 437 yards (221 passing, 216 rushing)

v. Pittsburgh - 325 yards (179 passing, 146 rushing)

v. Florida State - 415 yards (189 passing, 226 rushing)

Averages v. Top 5 teams - 415.6 yards (243.4 passing, 162.2 rushing)

Funny the way their total defense is ranked higher than either the passing or rushing defense separately.

That's very possible.

I wasn't saying it wasn't possible, just commenting on how it's funny that that can happen.
