Tailgate location recommendations?

I am a Mountaineer fan living in Baton Rouge for the past few years. Believe it or not, I haven't had a chance to tailgate with my LSU friends in the past but am hoping to set up a little something on Saturday with some out of state friends.
Can anyone recommend a good spot to tailgate? I know the serious tailgaters get their spot the night before or at the arse-crack of dawn, but I'm thinking more of where we could set up mid-morning. Is that even possible??
Thanks and good luck to y'all. It should be a fun game!!

Best bet might be the parade grounds...since there is a lot of green space and you will be less likely to infringe on others...

You better get there early...like the arse crack of dawn.

just get a cooler and walk around until you find something that looks like no one will be tailgating at.

Will you be cooking anything and are you planning a large crowd?

Thanks for the info!
Not planning a large crowd but we do plan on having our grill. Most of my friends around here have their own tailgates we will be visiting but we would like to have our tent somewhere for those that don't want to roam around all day.

Try somewhere by the Agronomy Building on the street between swine palace and bioengineering.
Leave your frame on Friday night but chain it to something or it will get moved by the a-holes who think they have property rights by virtue of being in the same place for a few years.

Not even close. First come, first claim.

parade grounds have a lot of open room, especially towards the Law School.

After the heated tailgate wars on the board last week, I took the opportunity to look around campus all day Saturday to see what the fuss was about.
I saw that even mid morning on Saturday there are plenty of places to set up that would be very pleasant.
If it was me wanting to set up for the first time, I would just head over around 8 or 9 and find a place.

You can also try by W. Chimes street under the oak trees. Nice spot and there seems to be space.

This was my first experience tailgating near the stadium. I was surprised to see many places to set up. Of course the "prime" spots were crowded, but there certainly were areas to set up a grill and some chairs. I saw people "tailgating" under the overhangs of buildings near the stadium and there were plenty of empty spaces around them. Looked like great places for people watching. All in all it was no where near as hard to find a spot as I expected.
The busiest spot I saw was in front of some frat houses on Dalrymple.

"Endymion on Orleans Avenue Squatters Syndrome"
None of the Obsessive-Compulsive non-Alums who didn't spend tens of thousands of dollars in tuition at LSU own any property on or around campus. And Alums that DID, aren't automatically given a plot of campus along with their diplomas upon graduation.
Either show up Friday and stay with your plot overnight or get there early Saturday. Suffer the consequenses for those 7 days/nights of the year if you don't. You snooze, you lose.......

Another place you might want to consider is along S. Lakeshore Dr., which you turn onto from Stanford Ave. Travel west until you reach the Parker Agricultural Center, which will be on your left hand side. From there, just start hunting for a spot - it is usually pretty wide open. Oftentimes, visiting team groups gather in this general vicinity, as it is easy to get in and out of without getting turned around, while being only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the stadium. More than likely, you will be entering the stadium on the east side gates 12-14. If you tailgate in this area, you won't have to walk completely around the stadium to reach your gate.
Have a great time and remember, spend LOTS of money.

Chill out, dude. If you pay money for a spot, you're talking about a reserved, fee-based parking area.
But as for the common areas, it's first come, first claim.
