I grew up only a few miles from henderson Louisiana so i consider myself a true cajun and my relatives are pure cajun.I graduated from college and have now moved of state due to work but when i watch the show i'm not sure if i'm offended as to how coonass these people or how i miss being back there fishing the basin. So i'm asking do you guys feel offended of how cajuns are betrayed?or you ok with it?

quote:If you mean being "portrayed" then no I'm not offended (but I'm not Cajun, just grew up in South Louisiana). I think it just shows them as they are...hard working, good hearted folk, and a little under educated. Wouldn't want to piss 'em off though.

I embrace it. Troy is the man
The only one that looks ridiculous is Bruce.

I would have loved to grow up there.I grew up in North Alabama on the water.Had a 16 ft. flat bottom boat with a 8 HP Mercury outboard that had belonged to one of my Uncles.Hunted and Fished all I could. That would have been something else to have that much of an area to explore. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

I sometimes feel that if these people weren't extreme coonasses and what the media/tv loves to portray Louisianians as, then they wouldn't even think to do this show.
They just love to portray this stereotype.

I like the show and don't have a problem with the way they are portrayed, including Bruce. He may look strange, but I've met several people that wear crazy shite like that.
Like he said in the first episode, "I don't like to be different from other people, I just am different. It's the way I am."

Is the show only about hunting gators? I may be in the minority on this but I'm getting bored with watching a gator get shot in the head for the umpteenth time.

The Weather Channel does more to defame Cajuns when covering a hurricane than this show does.

shows like this do make us look bad in Louisiana. People who have never been here see a show like this and assume that all of Louisiana is bayous and swamps and that the people are all toothless retards, but what u gunna do. This is almost as bad as they made LA look in the Waterboy

Can't wait to see the step-son get devoured by a gator!
The rest of the folks on that show come off well, especially Troy. Troy could have his own show!

I was looking at the History Channel web site and there is another family of "swamp people" that I haven't seen on the show or seen any previews of. Albert "Butch" Knight is his name. I wonder if they just didn't make the show or will be shown on later episodes.
