Looking for some good public land to do some flooded timber hunting, standing if possible. Willing to drive to Ark or Miss. What you got?

I think Cat Island Refuge above St. Francisville is supposed to have some good hunting.

Russel Sage, Dewey Wills, Tensas, Upper Ouachita, Beouf. Never hunted Upper ouachita but heard it can be great.

Willing to drive to Ark

As far as Arkansas goes:
- Felsenthal Nat. Refuge, just across the state line north of Bastrop and west of Crossett.
- Cut-Off Creek WMA and Seven Devils Swamp, east of Monticello
- White River Nat. Refuge, NW of Dumas
- Trusten Holder WMA, at the bottom of the White River Refuge.
- Bayou Meto, Stuttgart

Arkansas Game & Fish reports weekly flood stages and duck #s for all these areas.

With Felsenthal, Cut-Off and Seven Devils, you got to watch flood stage. Bayou Meto has gotten more dependable on holding water.

I haven't hunted Felsenthal in years, but I use to be in there a ton during the early 90s. When the water got to the right level, it was fantatic. If it didn't then you were going to be looking at a bunch of empty sky.

Pointe aux Chene is good for marsh hunting. But you need a boat (electric motors only this year).

Where exactly is this place? I used to work with an old guy from West Monroe who always talked about hunting and fishing on Wham Brake.
