Somebody help me with this quote from Miles

quote:
Some of those plays where we gave the ball to Russell Shepard that turned into big plays were based on the fact that they had to defend the power run inside. That was a thought that we had going in that we wanted to attack them. We still want to run the football, but if you looked at, we threw a lot of those plays that came off of run-action and made the defense widen. I like the way we attacked them. I wish we would have attacked them that way longer."
Last time I checked, you're the HC. If you want it done a certain way, just tell Crowton to do it!!

Something tells me you aren't in management.

Means he wishs we hadn't acquired fumblelitis in the 2nd half.

I thought Crowton was being held back because of Les' interference??

It goes both ways obviously, how else would the rantards bash Les in every way possible?

So the HC should just sit back and watch while a different plan than he envisions is executed? I understand you don't want him intervening in actual play calls, and bogging down the decision process, but what's wrong with getting on the headset and just saying "Gary, we're doing well with the misdirection with Shep, keep it up" or something to that effect?

I am and have been for teens of years. If you don't manage your organization, it will manage to get your arse fired.

No, but that isn't what you implied.
Bottom line, I'm sick of the incredible over-analysis of Les's quotes. All he's saying here is it was working, we should have done it more than we did.

problem is we didn't do it more and that is on les and gary.
they love to go away from shite that works

What ever happened to the captain of the ship runs the ship without question?

Just so we're clear...because I do not want to put words in your mouth...
but are you implying that Miles is very competent in management?

Fair enough. I'm just irritated we didn't pull away and wipe out UNC, so I'm grasping at all the little shite I see. A nice 3 TD win at Vandy will cure me

No. I'm implying that the OP's request to micro-manage has been proven time and time again in thousands of organizations to fail.

And not stepping in when you see shite not going the way you want it to go(bc you are the boss) is a sure fire way to keep your job

but then again I'm glad we got to get some young guys some playing time against a tougher opponent early in the year...could pay dividends later on.

Oh cool, another "let's pick apart another Les quote just to make him look stupid, when he really didn't say anything stupid" thread.

I think he's excited to have something to run constraints off of, or BG has just introduced them to the offense.

I take this as wishing the play calling hadn't gone conservative after the opening drive ended by fumble.
You don't know if the series with TD called back wasn't because Miles called the booth and said go for the throat after 2(?) conservative series in a row.
Why is there a need to break down Miles every sentence and try to wring every ounce of shite out of it anyway?
