Nothing has changed, LSU never was able to pound that inexperienced defensive line, Jefferson was terrible, the secondary which is suppose to be our strong point, got blown up for over 400 yds passing, clock management still sucks, Miles looks like he has nothing to say and we have lots of talent all over this team

penalties and bone head plays just like last year. Oh yeah ... our coaching sucks too

don't really understand how jefferson was terrible. he made much better reads, did not take sacks, and moved the team down the field. fumbling and offensive line penalties halted scoring drives. the biggest mistake that hurt us was jefferson's intentional grounding, but outside of that play he did what he was asked to do. the problem is that the coaches are not asking him to do much.

I agree the O-line was weak, but Jefferson wasn't terrible. He only had 21 attempts, and he connected on 15 of them (about 75%!). The problem is Crowton doesn't give him enough chances to throw, particularly down the field at least 15 yards. Instead, we waste all our downs running the ball (which is a waste because our o-line is anemic), and give Jefferson and the passing game one down to try to bail us out. To me, it's all about Crowton and very little about Jefferson.

We ran the ball effectively. Once UNC brought in those 2 LB's and took away the short passes, he looked like shite again. You didn't see that long play to RR, that took 6-7 sec to develop, he should have gotten rid of the ball at sec 4 as RR was wide open and he was his primary read. Don't give me that shite he played better.
he still scrambles "Backwards" and holds the ball far too long. just throw it away. He doesn't anticipate cuts. that is why we don't see back shoulder type of throws or receivers being hit coming out of a cut - releasing the ball befoer the receiver is open. He is NOT taking chances that are there for him. Everyone of those plays has multiple options. usually a dump off to a RB, a long post or slant or an out. I ahven't seen an out effectively thrown in 2 years by either qb. why do you think we stink on 2 min drills?

why again are you surprised?

I watch on TV, so I can't see the whole field. What I do know is 75% is a extremely good completion %, and 21 attempts is very low.
As for the 2 minute drill, the problem is Crowton keeps calling for swing passes to running backs, who inevitably get tackled in bounds before the first down. That's on Crowton and Miles, they need to have every route past the first down markers or out routes in those situations.

There are more optionson those plays than the RB's. Don't you think? Not all receivers are blocking on those.
When was the last time you saw a 10 yd out or throw to the back shoulder of a receiver?
Posted on 9/5/10 at 10:23 am to Jaketigger
I agree, same as last two years.

I agree on all points except we are getting the play calls in more timely this year. Billy G has at least made that improvement to the offense. Now about those other problems . . .

He still makes a lot of passes tough to catch for the receivers and got TT laid out last night waiting to long to throw out of his break, and I am not speaking to actually trying to put the pass on the back shoulder or hip, he is nowhere accurate enough to accomplish that. Low, behind them, taking them out of stride. Hell, if the TD pass to RR had been well thrown the CB would never have touched him, it was late and behind him. The guy just has no anticipation as to when his receivers will be open, that hasn't changed one bit. The passing game, all-in-all, was the achilles heel again and it is frustrating as hell given the weapons in the lineup. We will see if any major improvement occurs between week 1 & 2, but looks like SOS to me.

quote:No he wasn't, he was better. He still wasn't great, but he wasn't terrible. His lone BIG mistake was the int'l grounding.
Jefferson was terrible,
Dropped passes by RS would have gotten first downs and prob another score.

quote:Wrong, he stepped up in the pocket about 4 times and took a hit to throw, even completing some of them. Even the announcers noticed that and pointed it out. The guys' not going to set the world on fire, but he's not as bad as you make him out to be either.

I am sick of this completion % Bull CRAP. So what he completed a 3rd down pass, big F-n deal. They are still short of the 1st down marker. It is the same as an incompletion going for an actual "MEANINGFUL" result for the team.
A completion short of the chains is no better than an incompletion that would have yielded a 1st down. Both yield PUNTS. Oh wait- except for JJ's stats...
