Miles said that he’s looking forward to watching quarterbacks Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee compete on Tuesday.

“We want to execute the offense,” Miles said. “We want to make sure that the run-checks are right, and we hit the passes, and everything operates as it’s supposed to. I think those guys are competing. It’s still a very competitive position, and I like how it’s going. Jordan is continuing to improve, and that’s all we can ask.”

Sounds like its cut and dry to me.
Some of you hate it I know, but sounds to me like we have a qb postion battle.

It would be nice if either JJ or JL would simply take the reigns by their play on the field and or locker room.

Hopefully JJ hits his stride when the games count. If he can improve a little from last year and move the ball more consistently, then we should get to 10 wins.

To be honest I don’t care who it is; just say one is the starter so they don’t have to worry about the pressure of losing their spot.

I don't either... I just want the offense to look organized/competent/able.

After the way the offense went last year with that mentality given to Jefferson, I don't see how that is a good thing for these guys. I say light a fire under their asses and let them get better and better. No position should be safe after what we saw on the field last year.

There you go again listening to Les Miles. What he says in the press conf.'s is usually useless info other than MAYBE a broad generalization.

This is not a criticism of Miles. It is just how he is and how he handles the media.

The sad thing about that is that most people just can't accept that. I don't understand what's so difficult about seeing it.

I want both of them to do better. Would love to see JL get in late in the 2nd or 3rd qtr of each game and sling it around for some yards and a couple of touchdowns in the first few games. 2 is always better than 1. So there!!

All of this

Before the 2006 season, there were a ton of people that thought Flynn would start.

Yes. I think they need to pick someone and stick with it. Worrying the whole game if they frick up they are going to get pulled makes them too conservative (atleast for JJ). Neither to me is very impressive. Both have +/- the other does not.

I have to disagree. If someone is stinking it up on the field don't let him drown. Pull him and give him a chance to see what the defense is doing that eating him up. If the other guy sucks too then put the first back in.

Ok I guess I should say going into the season. I do understand screwing up after a game or two, to try something new. Right now the team needs a leader on offense, and not claiming a starter could cause some issues for folks. What do I know though lol. I am no expert or coach.

Heck I don't wait for the guy to cost us the entire game. If he goes out and is not on his game after a couple of series then pull him a series and let him have a chance to see what the defense is doing with the understanding that he's going back in. If the other guy is moving the ball and on his game then the "starter" may have a few series of rest (like the rest of the game).

I have a hunch that JLee *has* taken the reigns, but Miles boxed himself in with the "JJ is our guy" crap.

Jesus, how bad do you want Lee to start?

Every thread you post is some ridiculous interpretation of something said by a member of the team that you perceive as a "head to head" race.

funny thing about this is you are the biggest JJ drum banger on this site.

I dont know if you are just blind, illiterate, niaeve, biased or a combination of all of those, but there is certianly no "ridiculous interpretation" of the QUOTE from LM I posted.
Funny part is for some of you even words from our own head coach doesnt suffice.
Face it, that quote goes against your own personal feelings on this topic and anything other than "JJ is the fricking man" gets to some of you.

I stated the other day there would be people that post on this site that will get their litttle feelings hurt if JL plays and you my friend are at the very fricking top of that list.
Congratulations for proving me right.
