TAF is a separate entity financially. the athletic dept. doesn't get money from the school. they actually give the school 5% of their profits.

Walked back over there today after class and now they're working on the front part. I assume they'll do this the same as they did the back wall: put that white primer on, then do another coat of the beige tomorrow.

I am a member of TAF. Not sure if this is TAF or part of the athletic departments budget. They shoud be giving a lot more than 5% IMO. The athletic department is part of the overall university and utilizes all of its facilities. The athletic dept does not own Tiger Stadium, the P-Mac of any other building on campus. It is part of the LSU operating budget. The grounds and security is not pais for by the athletic dept. only the extra security for games for example. So while I see your point, I believe that more of the athletic budget should go back to the university that 5% b/c that doesn't pay for the amount of teachers that the athletes are using as part of their education.

Looks like they finished up all the painting and everything. Mike's little pond is still dry and he wasn't out there Thursday, but I assume they're letting the paint dry more so he doesn't get high off it.

I just don't get it man. I went in the athletic office this morning (well I guess yesterday morning technically) to get my tickets for the UNC game. And there on the floor of the lobby is the tiger face from the football helmet in tile. It looks so tight. Why do they refuse to use that awesome design for everything?

Hell or even the tiger eye... I think they invested too much money in it, and so they might as well use it, but honestly I don't know

Yeah they paid some big marketing firm to design it (instead of allowing marketing students or someone design it). I guess I can't fault them for wanting to do something new and, since they made the investment, at least try to get their moneys worth. But it's time to change

Mike IV roamed outside the cage for at least a few hours back in November 1981. I was in Grad School that year and my wife worked at LSU. If I remember correctly, it was reported by The Daily Reveille that Mike had shredded one of the juvenile pine trees sharpening his claws, almost flattened another tree (it was leaning over and partially uprooted), and was found walking on the track by a jogger, who quickly reported Mike's stroll to the Campus Police, who then alerted the Veterinary School. The Vet School tranquilized the tiger with three darts if I remember.
It was widely speculated that Tulane University students had planned to kidnap Mike, but I don't recall if there was any proof behind the speculation. The cage locks had been cut with a bolt cutter.
We lived over in Pollard Estates back then and were glad there was a few miles of food in between us and Mike. My wife was in the latter stages of her 1st pregnancy back then and couldn't have run very far or very fast... but don't tell her I said that.

nortizzle? yeah that one is actually legit... I was surprised it turned out pretty cool. I could handle that one as an alternative logo on stuff. But for just the face that can only fit on some merchandise and stuff, the helmet tiger is how it should be. And for ESPN highlights when they have our icon on there, it should be the block font "LSU" with the script "Tigers" under it like it used to be.

My theory is:
1 - they are oblivious and really think it is just a small minority of people that dislike the logo.
2- they are aware that the majority of us hate it, but feel that they invested too much money in it to completely abandon it, so they continue to shove it down our throats in hopes that we'll just get over it and accept it.
I know they don't care about one person e-mailing them, but if more people would be vocal about it, I think they couldn't ignore it forever. If they don't want to abandon it, fine that's their prerogative. But it would be cool if they made merchandise with the helmet tiger more available.
Because right now the only official stuff you can get with that tiger on it are a couple of shirts. And they're all like $30+ because they're "vintage". So maybe that's it, they know people want the classic tiger, so they call it "vintage" and can charge you more for it.
I honestly don't know, but I hate going to the store and seeing nothing but Toonces on LSU stuff and thinking to myself "man some of this would be so cool with the old tiger." maybe it's for the best because i would be spending a lot of money on more LSU stuff otherwise. i already have like a thousand LSU shirts and other stuff
