Just buy food in the CNN center why go to all the trouble of getting there at 7AM to find a good spot and cook and shite. It's a downtown stadium so do a downtown style tailgate.

You'll have plenty of time to show off your portable BBQ pit and mad cooking skills in BR, Auburn, etc.

It pretty much sucks... Also be careful not to wander off to far if you want to keep your wallet.

For the Saints v Falcons games they have a lot under the bridge (requires a parking pass) where you can set up tents. Always a good time

Yeah, the vicinity of the Georgia Dome/Coca Cola World/Aquarium/CNN Center has an ungodly murder rate of .09 per year. That's almost as bad as the Superdome on Saints gamedays.

Murder and armed robbery are correlative. My pithy response at our redneck friend stands.

Cmon you've obviously been to Atlanta for games. Why are you being argumentative? It's completely safe.

Game day around the Georgia Dome sucks. It won't be like a college tailgating scene and they don't have cool bars within walking distance to the stadium(not like games at Super Dome).

You DO need to be careful in the area, there are bad areas very, very close to the Georgia Dome and lots of questionable characters walking around. It may be well patrolled during games, but don't doubt that there still exists the possibility of some danger.

Can't vouch for any other responses you've got but I live here and have tailgated in a big grass/dirt lot immediately south of the Dome, no more than 200 yards, every time the Tigahs come to town, AND I'll be there this year. In years past, it's been $20 per car. HATT used to set up there, so did the Krewe of Ragoo. No hassles. No problems. You may have to feed a couple of homeless guys but what's the harm. I'll be there with about 30 folks from the 'Motherland' and our regulars. Look for a P&G tent. Ya'll come.

The last few games the Tigers have been here for, the lot south of the stadium that is being talked about doesn't fill up until around 9-10am. We would get there around 7-8 and it would be pretty wide open. Especially when the game is a night game. But like rumtumtiger said, there are always 3-4 tailgating groups that show up here and throw down. Never had any problems. I dont have tickets BUT, will probably go just to tailgate with some family members. Probably grab some food from the "cajun meat company" here in Marietta to get the back home feeling. pork sausage, boudin, stuffed chicken are usually on the menu.

The big lot south of the dome will be taking cars most of the day but I suggest you get there early, 8-9 if you're looking to set up a tent. Anyway, that's my plan. See ya....

First time doing the Dome with RV. Staying Friday and Saturday nights in RV lot. If you've RV'ed before in downtown Atlanta, let me know what to expect, will ya?
