Got this idea from the Movie/TV Board.

Who were the championship teams when you were born?

1962

AFL Champions – Dallas Texans
NFL Champions – Green Bay Packers
World Series Champions – New York Yankees
NBA Champions – Boston Celtics
NCAA Basketball Champions – Cincinnatti

NCAA Football – Although there was no official champion named in college football USC was the unofficial champ

College Bowl games
Rose Bowl USC over Wisconsin
Sugar Bowl Ole Miss over Arkansas
Cotton Bowl LSU over Texas
Orange Bowl Alabama over Oklahoma

Looks like the SEC ruled in ’62 too!

Heisman Trophy winner was Terry Baker, QB from Oregon State.

And in 1962, Charlie Mac took over as head coach at LSU!

Judging by some of the names of the teams and some of the champions I'd say mid '50s. I wasn't quite a teenager.

San Francisco winning the NCAAs suggests Russell was playing. Yankees & Oklahomas would lead me to guess mid '50s also. '56 or '57 maybe??
