Man I wish we got mallards like that here. We get lots of teal, woodies, gadwalls, and divers.

I can't wait to get into duck hunting. I didn't start duck hunting until last year. My can't duck hunt, therefore I never did. I got a couple of buddies who take me when they have an open spot, but I'll be looking for a lease next year, or a good public land spot.

Nice, I've killed one banded duck over the years. It was a pintail but it was so old that it no longer had a tail, so I did not mount it. Did you get yours mounted?

From two years ago just north of Humphrey, AR. Yes, Smiling Mallards were taken that afternoon.

Best day last year, in a rice field beside Mill Bayou in AR. We shot everything that flew by that morning.

Me with the greenheads from that hunt.

Have a new camera for this year.

Never been duck hunting... Always wanted to go though.

Is banding just to keep track of birds, or what is the exact reason?

Or does it mean they were "stocked?"

Its not that often do you see Bismuth and Estate shells sitting next to each other in the blind.

One of my better hunts last season. This was during the arctic blast in January and our fields were froze up. Me and the bro-in-law here cut this approx 20' dia circle in the ice and shoved the sheet under the other ice. As soon as we chunked the 10 dekes out and laid on the levee the ducks started pouring in. We ended up calling 4 other buddies and smoked 36 in no time. We had our mallard and pintail limits in about 30 minutes but had to hang out a while for the off ducks. My dog retrieved the majority of them by running on the ice.

And he stays conditioned to do all this running by following 4 wheelers for miles....uphill! Jack is a beast!

Jax is a machine. He is living proof of the nutritious benefits of Walmarks dog food and table scrapes.
