Deep fried back strap cutlets are hard to beat. Other than that deer sausage on the pit.

We've actually never fried the backstrap (I know, WTF, this seems very popular :lol)
What exactly do you do? Slice it thin, then batter w/ Zatarains Fish Fry???
Bacon Explosion - I will try this at the camp this year w/ deer meat

I've given up on trying to eat anything but backstrap unless it's ground.

Backstrap - battered and deep fried
Roast - deer spaghetti, sauce piquant, roast and gravy w/ rice or mashed potatoes
Everything else - sausage or jerky

We cut it in 1/2-3/4 inch slices, drop it in some milk and eggs and seasoning, then flour with Tony's, then drop it in the grease. Don't overcook. Greatness.

Same here. Backstrap, then the rest is ground for sausage, ground meat. I do save some for tamales

Sliced thin, less than 1/4 in. I'm not a big fan of tenderized steaks, but don't like it tough as boot leather either. However, sliced thin provides two benefits:
1.Thinner=tenderer
2.Thinner=less gamier,
I don't like a thick batter, but do like a little so I'll mix my meat in a bowl with Tony's, an egg or two, and a little milk. Toss them in flour, and fry them bad boys up.
Nothing better than fried deer meat w/biscuits and syrup.

Yes there is. Fried backstrap on a biscuit with eggs and a little grape jelly.

Has anyone grilled backstrap. I had a buddy at a camp do it one time for a snack and it was amazing but I didn't think to watch or ask how he did it. I know he cut them very thin but I don't know what he used to marinate them in or anything like that. It was one of those things where they were only in the skillet for a minute max but it wasn't fried
