The phrase "the south will rise again" implies somehow that it was ever on some level of excellence in the first place.

Hmm, well, if you're counting education, job market, weather, pollution, racial tension levels, and crime rates, then yeah- i'd put Spokane pretty high up there.

I'm a die hard Saints fan, but let's face it- the South (at least the Deep South) is 40-50 years behind the rest of the country.

rankings of education, job market (which by the way are more prevalent here then there thanks to BP and many others douche), weather, pollution, racial tension levels (really???), and crime rates(really really??)

Let Spokane have a bunch of hurricanes, floods, and 105 degree F weather and see how it recovers after years and years of natural torment.

So what? what does that have to do about football?? The title was pertaining to football not the nation. (NFC South)
