What was the toughest football season for you as a fan?

What was the hardest football season to sit through for you as a fan. For me, the late 90s were pretty bad watching LSU losing so many games.

But the emotional roller coaster that was the 2007 season left me really tired. It was also the happiest season for me because we won outright but I was ready to take a break from watching football for a few months. My nerves couldn't take it anymore.

you know every season as i get older gets harder on me. i've made it a point to be a fan but message boards an technology can put a damper on something i enjoy. i guess i should be more thick skinned but it pisses me off when a supposed lsu constantly insults every thing about lsu.

Probably either the 98 or 99 season. An amazing collapse.

1998 was very tough. High expectations, completely disappointing season.

From 1989 - my first year at LSU - to 1994 was miserable also.

2007 - I'll take the end result, but you said it about right.

I'd say 1999, because we spent the whole offseason convincing ourselves that 98 was an aberration. Then you get destroyed by Auburn in a game we were favored, a LONG ride home from Georgia, pummeled by Florida, score FIVE points against Kentucky, give the football game to Alabama after a great comeback, and are even declared the loser of a game against Mississippi State that we really won.

For me it's the opposite. An LSU loss used to ruin my entire week. Now it just ruins my weekend. I guess I've learned to take it for what it is ... a game ... an escape from the real life problems for a few hours on Saturdays.

That was 98.

And f*** Lou Tepper, but that Alabama game was unbelievable. Two volleyball slaps by LSU DB's turned into Alabama touchdowns.

Anyone who does not say 1998 was obviously not an LSU fan back then. Jesus, what were we preseason? #7? Awful year.

I'd have to say 89,98 99 I kind of knew what was coming when Tepper stayed put.

1998 no question. Kevin Faulk came back for that crap and I think Herb Tyler was a senior. I don't usually drop the f bomb in Tiger Stadium out of respect for the kids and families but I couldn't help it that year; especially the Kentucky game. The defense fell apart thanks to read and react and drop line backers.

This statement sounds so recently familiar that it gave me shudders. Just replace the name Tepper with another one.

Ugh.

2-9 in 92. Players laughing(ala Aaron Brooks) on the sidelines while getting blown out by Arkansas. The worst of the Hellman years.

Not the toughest IMO. The fans had given up at that point too. Regardless of how people want to think, there was a half empty stadium to start the games then.
