Its not freaking dirty. What was Les supposed to do at that point? He had no choice. Every school over signs, its so rare so have everyone qualify.
And he also sign a letter of intent....intent being the key word there. Nothing was official yet. I know these kids are 18 yrs old, but thats life. Better to learn early than late.

So you'd be cool if you showed up to school your freshman year as a regular student and they told you, "Sorry...you don't have a scholarship here anymore. You can either not go to school this semester or you can pay out of your pocket. If you want, you can come back in January. Yeah, sorry if you could've gone to another school on scholarship. shite happens, oh well."

LOI are binding in that the player cannot sign/go anywhere else without losing eligibility unless the UNIVERSITY releases him from it.
It gives all the power to the school, which is part of the problem. People keep bitching about how schools get screwed by recruits but then seem to be fine with schools screwing recruits.
