Is LSU (this year) better than Pitt was last year?

I ask because I am watching the replay of the UNC vs. Pitt game on ESPNU, and to be honest, UNC does NOT look as good as I was expecting them to (Based on all of the hype coming from the rant).

Same, I don't see anything too special.

One year older I guess

It's really impossible to know. And you can't put too much stock in what UNC's doing. Bowl game performances have become way too overrated by fans and the media when preparing for the next season.

I agree.

I don't see how their defense resembles the '85 Bears at all.

I've been lied to.

Hard to gauge an opponent from just one game.

Auburn beat Ole Miss 33-20 last year

Watching the Pitt offense move the ball without too much trouble, I'm questioning all the hype about the UNC defense.

LSU will beat UNC if UNC loses this game.

I am not, by any stretch, saying that LSU will move the be "at will" on UNC. What I am saying is that UNC's D does not appear to be any worse than, say, Alabama. I like the idea of R.Shep, J.Jefferson, RR, TT, Ford and Ridley on the field lined up against the UNC D I am looking at right now on ESPNU.

So I guess this is assuming UNC (last year) = UNC (this year) correct? No offense but posts like this are ridiculous. What if UNC had a tremendous offseason and has improved quite a bit? I know it's rough but we're not gonna know anything for 31 more days. Anything up until then is pure speculation.

The UNC D is going to be very similar to the UNC D last year. Given, there will be growth throughout the off season. (As will some players digress). However, it seems to me that our skill level is MUCH higher than theirs. Also, I can't help but think that LSU plays in the SEC, and is well versed in playing top notch programs. I can't say the same for UNC.

IMO I think the UNC hype is nothing but perception. I think Butch Davis is a good coach and the team does have a pretty good defense, but I would argue they are just as good as last years Washington team. Does this mean we are guaranteed a win? Absolutely not.

All of that defensive production and an 8-5 record to show for it... absolutely terrifying...
