no clue, but they are a huge national name and brand. that's prestige.

USC>OU

cfb rankings

1 Alabama
2 Notre Dame (IN)
3 Southern California
4 Oklahoma
5 Michigan
6 Ohio St.
7 Texas
8 Nebraska
9 Louisiana St.
10 Tennessee
11 Georgia
12 Penn St.

Which isn't a bad list. I think Bama and USC are clearly teh best two programs since the 60s, Miami the best program since the 80s and LSU should be ranked below UT

But mostly I think that's a solid list

Texas is a huge name, and has had some great stories in the past as well as players throughout the years, but they are not Top 5 prestigious. I would say Nebraska...even Penn State has more clout then they do.

I would consider Texas more of a NOW school. Another decade of what they just did, and prestige will be there.

The list posted above me is pretty spot on. I guess its personal preference. Notice how The U and FSU arent on there? They only account for less then 30 years of decency.

if prestige is based on success I'll keep teh list I linked above

If it's based on Q rating now? #1 has to be USC and #2 has to be Notre Dame

How is ND #2? Any reasonable college football fan who:

A) Didnt grow up in South Bend
B) or doesn't have a Parent who went there

hates ND

it's about name brand and the attention it generates

Television executives will happily broadcast Notre Dame football (or say Duke basketball) even if 70% of the people tuning in are hoping to see them lose

How bout if you're Catholic (or just grew up watching them)?

And you're basically calling 98% of ND's fanbase unreasonable with that statement (maybe that was your intention ).
