All that needs to be done is Oswalt approving the trade.. JA Happ is rumored to be part of the deal

Just when I was about to put some money on the Rangers winning it all, they had to go and do this crap... Jesus, the Phillies are the new Yankees.

Be interesting to see who all the pieces are involved.

Edit: Rumor going around is Happ, Singleton, Gose, and 1 other player involved from philly.

If Phils were the Yankees they would have kept Lee in first place and still added Oswalt.

Imagine that rotation in playoffs Halladay, Lee, Oswalt 3 legit #1's

Oswalt is good don't get me wrong, but I think if the phils have lee they wouldn't be trying to get oswalt now. And if they don't win the east with this acquisition, I'd be fuming if I was a phillies fan, because happ is legit

They went after the wrong Astros pitcher.

Yeah, as far as value goes, Myers is the guy.

But... he was a Philly last season and wasn't there some bad blood there?

Apparently Wade and Myers have already agreed on the mutual option for next season and will not be traded. No idea why they are only moving Roy if true. I mean seriously if you are rebuilding go ahead and tear the entire thing down IMO.

They could get a wildcard, I just don't think they pass up the padres when they lose the division to the giants (IMO)

But yeah a wildcard birth would make me ok with this trade. But if no playoffs, then philly straight fricked themselves. And with all these complete games halladay as thrown, his arm will be gone by late august

seeing as the Astros are trying to get younger and less expensive players, why would they trade the value guy?

Clearly it will not be a good move for Philly if they don't make the playoffs. I haven't looked but some one on here was saying SF's schedule down the stretch is brutal.

It's not guaranteed that Myers will be this good next year. This is a case of selling high. They could have probably milked Happ out of them for just Myers. Hell, the Phils were considering Happ for Lilly (which I had a boner over). Imagine what they could get for Oswalt.

However, it might be more advantageous for the Astros to sell on Oswalt because he's owed so much money. I wonder if they'll have to eat any of it.

Like I said in the original thread about this news, I would crack up laughing if he called up the Astros and said, " Thanks for the offer, but I like it here. "
