Miles will be the coach in 2011

With so much speculation going on about Les Miles' future at LSU, I was thinking about the potential scenarios that would lead to his firing after this season, and I simply could not come up with any.
Several scenarios are possible:
(All the scenarios only consider regular season games)
1) We win 10 or more games
2) We win 9 games
3) We win 8 games
4) We win 7 games
5) We win 6 or less games
Now, first and foremost, I think scenario 5 is not going to happen (if it does Miles is canned). If scenario 1 is true, Miles is safe.
I think if scenario 2 is true, he will be on the hot seat for 2011, but I just don't see him being fired.
If scenario 3 or 4 happens, I think Miles fires Crowton and saves his skin for at least a year. I think Miles made a (very calculated) smart move by not firing Crowton last season. This allows him to have the option to fire someone significant if this year's performance is not satisfactory.

I can see your thinking here, but 7 wins or less, I think a major change is made at the top. I don't think LSU will hire and pay two 'super' coordinators. Miles is an offensive guy so I can see the hiring of Chavis to try to 'save' him, but if this doesn't work for a third straight year, then it probably never will under Les' regime.

He could win 7 or 8 and have a clusterfrick time management situation come up just like last year on national TV, and I bet he's gone. There's lots of pressure on Miles this year, and I for one am glad. A lot of it comes from the fans and that's the reason for holding his feet to the fire. Maybe it will make him perform at a higher level.

Here's what would make me laugh my arse off.
Miles and LSU pull it together and go 13-1 or 14-0 and win the NC. Then Miles gives LSU fans what they deserve and bolts for Michigan right in the middle of recruiting season.

Miles will not be fired this year unless there is a major cluserfrick.
If you want to see the future of LSU football though. Look no further than Tennessee '02-'07. That will be LSU football with Chavis as DC. He will do just enough to not lose games and everyone will hate the Offensive coordinator and head coach.

I fixed it for you.
I may be wrong on the figure but LSU will still owe him somewhere between 9 to 12 million if they can him at the end of the year.
Also has anyone taken a look at the high school talent in the state this year and the recruiting class Miles is putting together. The administration is not going to put that in jeopardy plus have to pay out the money to get rid of him.
With a "bad" season Miles will be here minus Crowton.

8 or more wins and he stays without question under almost any scenario, period...money drives the ship.
Less than 8 wins and things will get dicey and much will depend on general play of the team and any more national news types of breakdowns (see Ole Miss and almost Arkansas).

This is Miles last year at LSU. Book It

I think the real key to Miles fate in 2011 if he wins 8 or less games is his buy out. Anyone know what the buyout would be after this year?

Just another in the endless, useless, meaningless Miles threads!!

Ersters spot on the money. In fact I would say this will come into play even if CLM wins 9 in a haphazard manor. (meaning the team does not look well coached but talent wins it)

quote:Oh, the money will be found. Never doubt that. You may have a point about recruiting but the announcement of a hot, high profile coach would solve that in a nanosecond.

If each and every hardcore LSU fan just gave $20 a piece to the TAF they could put that in a trust fund and we could buy him out. I bet you would get upwards of 100,000 takers. That's $2M.

chavis? are u fking high. we were 11th in the nation in scoring d despite the fact that our offense may have been the worst i have ever seen at lsu in my 37 yrs. the other team held the ball for 4 months longer than we did. if you think chavis is the problem, you need to buy a fking clue!

miles will NEVER go undefeted here. hell, he couldnt even do it with the 06 or 07 teams. and would yall give it up on the bcs nc bullshite!? it was the best example of pure, roulette luck i have ever seen. hell, i dont even remeber it because we backed into it after losing to arky and kentucky! a 2 loss nc, give me a break. yeah, i pulled for the tigers against a very pedestrian osu, im a fan. but that was the weakest team to ever win the bcs, hands down. the 03 team would have made the 07 team their bitch. the crystal trophy is great for your egos and is a good recruiting tool, but miles is a joke who is continuously growing closer to a head coaching casualty. sad thing is, we didnt do anything about it last year because of money. at least is what verge ausberry told me.
