The next great American golfer? Probably Rickie Fowler or Dustin Johnson. The thing is, golf is the most unpredictable of sports to predict as far as high school and college players. The PGA Tour is such a small and elite group that you really are pretty much guessing off potential. For example, remember Ty Tryon? Got his PGA Tour card at 17 and then disapperaed after one or two years. Everybody said he was the next big thing, but the dude turned out to not even be that good in the Tiger Woods video games.
Oh, and Tiger ain't washed up. He just hasn't made a putt in what seems like 2 years. A couple of years ago, people were saying Phil Mickelson was washed up. After the 2006 US Open, he wasn't playing well in majors. The guys that have been so good for so long will always come back until they just physically can't swing a club hard anymore.
