lol I don't get the stigma with WoW...ppl waste just as much time in front of Madden or MW2 but somehow WoW is looked down upon

Because it's an omgmmo so you're a total dork for playing it and mw2 is super special awesome so it doesn't count.
No Cataclysm beta for me. Every now and then I catch someone on justin.tv streaming it.
Been in the FFXIV alpha though, waiting for them to open the beta (cockteases, "here you can download the beta. Go ahead, try to connect...

i played WoW from 2006-2009, and quit WoW for MW2. well, halo3 first, then mw2. but i extensively played this shitty MMO for a while
its looked down upon by me cause i just personally think it sucks dick. just MO

we have Lich King on 25m normal on farm, its getting old. Helion is proving interesting though. i can't wait for Cata and new content

Maybe my second favorite MMO behind City of Heroes. I got bored with it, like most games of the same nature, because of the min-maxing bullshite.

XI was definitely a love it or hate it game. I loved it myself, but it definitely wasn't for everyone.
The requirements on XIV's alpha were incredibly steep, so it was hard to get a grip on it to compare. I can see a lot of potential for the battle system to be very interesting/fun. At the same time, I'm skeptical of SE pulling their heads out of their asses and actually changing things for the better for the players.
I'm hoping the settings for the beta will help the game run a lot smoother for me. I'm having my doubts on it being what it needs to be to pull more in than XI (at least), but time will tell.

I think it's an amazing game. I just can't get into MMOs because all that matters is who spends the most time playing. I like games where I can jump on play 10 games then compete with and beat people that have played 100s of games.
I really got into DotA for a while and I play FIFA and NCAA online a lot

As am I, but I sense they may actually be starting to get it. By it, I mean the NA player of course. The JPs like being miserable. I don't. FFXI wasn't a complete disaster. SE learned a lot over the years. They're just slow.
I have a good number of people from my old LS in XI who are heading to XIV. I'm probably going to cave. I'm hopeful. I'm just pissed they ruined Tarus.
Have either you or Muppet DLed the soundtrack that leaked months ago? I thought it was a pretty solid score. Glad to have Uematsu completely on it.
The game has potential to be really good and something really different. I think it'll be hit-or-miss. I have to start digging into more info on it. I keep putting it off. I'm intrigued by the classes and how different they seem to operate.
As far as Cataclysm is concerned, I'll play it once it comes out, but WoW really doesn't entertain me anymore.
