Ghana got to the quarters WITHOUT Essien. They were the youngest team in the Cup, and they defend extremely well. If they get some striking power (like Essien), then they are scary.
I want to say Ivory Coast as another African team, but they can't get their shite together.

What they need more is some creativity. Their final ball was awful all tournament long, as was their distribution.
