Good job front office.

Now he can retire as a Saint, where he should!

I thought he was still hoping to sign a lucrative contract with some team who needs a #1 receiver.

Hold on, Joe!! You'll get your shot.

Yeah he shouldn't be a big factor but he will get to retire with the team. Sorta like we did with Deuce for the playoffs

"Joe's accomplishments throughout his NFL career were tremendous," said Saints Coach Sean Payton. "He was one of the most productive wide receivers in the NFL during the period in which he played. For the time that I worked with him he was a big part of us building this program up to where we reached the NFC Championship in 2006. I wish Joe happiness and success in his future endeavors."

Coach had to go disinfect his mouth after reading that pr line.

Joe had some good years but to be truthful to me he is like the closing chapter of the long dreary past. Out with the decades of futility. Out with anyone coming across as me first or bigger than the team. The first impression of Payton was when he rid of former 1st rder Stallworth and replaced him with a 7th Rd Hofstra player. Then he booted Dwight Smith the leading tackler from the year before. Me said he ain't fricking around. He's definitely got a plan and what kind of players he wants. We'll see how it works. Joe was on the downside and getting dinged by then. Still, the reason he was kept was because his numbers accumulated were just too big. I'm not hating on him. He was the about the best we had in another of the many futile eras. He was super fan friendly. But that is an era past.

one day, drew will be history. Doesn't mean the new coach has to come in here and give his arse the boot to send some sort of message.

why not if a message is needed?

Of course it is unimaginable for that need with the Breesus.

Horn was a combo of declining skills, injuries, and not fitting the player mold. Smith and Stallworth were definite statements though.

My lingering memories of that era will be Gandy having a recliner in the locker room, Brooks smiling after his worst gaffes, trading a gamer like Sammy Knight away and trading for Tesucky Jones, moving up to take Fried Chicken Sullivan in the draft, and oh, won the first playoff game. One more, living where there was no Saints fan within 150miles at the time I endured endless ridicule and jokes that they actually took on 3 time loser cokehead Dale Carter (who was indeed done).
Thanks for what ya did Joe. Hey, I still am thankful for the Galbreath-Muncie-Chandler-Manning super group that they couldn't win with. But it was all nothing like now.

clearly sean got rid of horn to prove a point,it had nothing to do with his declining skills and attitude. This is evidenced by how awesome he was with the Falcons.....oh wait
