Yep. They think we should all spend double for everything to get the more enviromentally friendly version. Problem is we are all rich and can't afford to invest 50 thousand dollars to get off the grid as just one example. So they are going want to make energy twice as expensive with taxes. Which will make everything twice as expensive because everything take energy to make and almost everything from solar panels to cars, makeup and electrical wires are made in large part of petroleum products. Now after we make everything more expensive people can't buy as much and the economy tanks and we became just like country X. Pick any third world impoverised country to insert.

What happens then. Oh the enviroment goes to shite after everyone starts caring more about their own existance than the enviroment. Enviromental record of poorer countries is worse than rich countries... because they can't afford to shut down operations on say... oil cleanup to motor someone to a restroom to pee like happens with the current cleanup. Enviroment comes second... food and shelter come first.
