You don’t need a unreliable vehicle out in the woods. Time to cut your losses.

True, good point. To get to the camp is 2 miles of winding, narrow dirt "road" and 1/2 mile over hill and dale. The only time we had to tow a vehicle from back there was a nightmare.

Thanks for the recommendation!
2006 Mercury Mountaineer ~150,000 miles

Drove fine til the transmission died and has working a/c & heat. We let it sit up too long (8 months) & now the battery won't keep a charge. These are the only known issues.
(Edited: it has a check engine light on because the catalytic converter needs replacing. Doesn't affect how it runs, but it can't pass inspection)

Since the used car market has been pretty bad the last couple years, I don't know whether to:
* try to find something else cheap (hah)
* replace transmission & battery and use it for hunting/fishing (extra vehicle) or
* get rid of it

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I saw they have this wrap that has a chicken tender inside of it stuffed with red beans which sounds like heaven in a wrap!

I never liked my food mixed together but had to try that wrap. It's delicious!
I'm just flipping out that for 850K there's no swimming pool. For that much money, I want a huge pool with attached hot tub!

I mean, I'm merely speculating like everybody else, but that press conference was just odd.
Maybe another surgery in the near future then and he wants to talk to the team about it???
Les Miles has brain surgery in 2000:

LINK ]Les Miles took a jog one morning that mid-December. He returned home with a tremendous headache and feeling nauseated.

quote:

Miles visited doctors periodically after his surgery to check for any growth. Then he stopped.

"I had it monitored for a couple of years," he said. "Then they said there was no reason to. Apparently, they're in a lot of people. Some have them in a real bad area. Others, you never even know about them. I'm lucky. We found out about it. If they hadn't removed it, it could've been very serious."

Another incident in 2015:

LINK ]Miles told head trainer Jack Marucci Monday morning that he had a headache and was feeling a bit nauseated

It hit me that he had the exact same symptoms recently. Do you think this is the reason for all the non-information and confusion about his status?

Hawthorne does screw up sometimes and it's usually pretty entertaining, but I don't think errors that he quickly corrects are ruining the game for me. Also, it is pretty hard to see angles & judge distance from the press box. They don't have the benefit of the close-up camera like we do watching on tv.

I felt he did pretty well on one of the most confusing ends to a game that I can remember - LSU vs Tennessee 2010 (football). While the tv guys were showing the final score and talking about the bad snap for a solid minute & a half before the ref made announcement and alerted them to the flag, Hawthorne had been talking about it the whole time & even guessed the right penalty "too many men on the field." I personally know of many people who turned off their tv & never saw the end of the game, but if you had had the radio on you would have known something was still going down.

It doesn't completely excuse some of his more egregious errors but it's something. And I do love the emotion in his voice - whether good or bad - because it totally reflects OUR emotions & connects the announcers to the fanbase.

So he wasn't #1 for the day is what you're saying?

Well, Foster's catch was #1 when it played on Sportscenter at about 10:56pm. If a later edition of Sportscenter played the basketball buzzer beater as #1, then it probably aired after midnight. So in my mind, Foster's play is still the top play of the day for Friday.

Until someone produces proof of a signed extension with a buyout, Saban remains in play for the Texas job.

This is what I'm waiting to hear. I keep reading articles that say "Saban agreed" to stay at Bama. What is that a verbal agreement? Who knows. I'm waiting to read that he has SIGNED a contract. Until then, yes, anything is possible.

Thanks, that time seems a little early but I'll be watching that page ...

I just remember when the Saints returned from Chicago in 2006 season, after losing the NFC, they were very surprised there were fans waiting for them & it cheered them up.

These are young guys thinking everyone hates them because they were favorites so an airport welcome seems like the thing to do.

Uh, no, not there to be entertained. Don't intend to even talk to a player. Just want to show up & support.

Kids would like to meet the team at the airport but I have no idea when they would get in....

Flight time, anyone???

Does anyone know about when the team would be heading back? Would it be tonight or tomorrow?

I couldn't hear what he was saying to Ross - what exactly was he bitching about?
Looking for 2 for the Saints/Raiders game if any of you season ticket holders can let a couple pre-season tix go.

Well, LSU character issues have been all over the news & forum & gossip sites the past few weeks. Started with a small blurb I read about Les Miles giving pre-draft advice to Jordan Jefferson and Tyrann Mathieu. Then of course ESPN magazine cover of Mathieu & multiple interviews. Then Hill gets arrested. Then Tharold Simon makes news for "intimidating" a police officer (saying he owned this town). I mean, yeah, it starts to make you wonder what the hell is going on. And those murmurs are getting louder:

What's going on at LSU?
ha this was my knee-jerk response as well ("grab the popcorn, this is getting good")

You think you are rough and tough for taking it like a man when in reality you are rolling over and getting butt fricked without a fight. THAT isn't very manly! FU to everyone that wants to continue to accept the rape!"

TutHillTiger: "Bitching about it publicly and specifically to our LSU SEC reps will do a lot. Keep the pressure up. Let the SEC scheduling committee know that they are being scrutinized. Some people on here amaze me that they understand so little about how the world works. Communication is everything. Everything is a negotiation. Lobbying works."

This is what it takes: bitching to the right people. Numbers help a LOT. So complaining on a message board is not wasted air. If it organizes & assembles a group of people who will make their voices heard to the right channels, it is worth the effort.

Ok, it aint Tiananmen Square, but if we don't ever use our right of freedom to assemble (the individual right to come together and collectively express, promote, pursue and defend common interests), it will lose its power.
