I've been coughing a little lately. I think I'll sue BP as well.

Why are victims being blamed here? Not that you don't expect that to happen with this state, but what is the claim being made? That people are getting sick? That people have been caught faking it? What.

Oil workers who have been on rigs for years have never been found to suffer from any kind of oil syndrome or illness. So why are all these people claiming to be sick all of a sudden?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The oil spill didn't start years ago. You knew this would happen. People need Louisiana so badly that whenever their dependence upon us results in Louisianians getting screwed, they try to shift blame on the victims. That is complete crap. I assure you being that being close to a large amount of thick oil that is bubbling under the sun could cause you to feel ill.
A Week Later In Grand Isle
Look at the oil bubbling and releasing chemicals into the air that people breathe. Do you think he's lying?

Probably not just the oil, but the combination of oil and Corexit.
It can't be good for you, that's for sure.

I would bet this is why BP was so hesitant to just let the general population clean up this mess.
Everyone bitched that people couldnt just run up and help anywhere they wanted, and here is our answer to why.

You sir should not make comments when you no not what you say. Ive spent whole days being covered in crude, continued working and never got sick. And as for the dispersant been around that some of that to, its not much more that rig soap which is just and industrial soap.

Give it some time. That's a toxic brew down there and it may take months to years before people's health starts to fail.

More than 100 people in the Gulf have fallen ill from BP’s oil, and that doesn’t include untold numbers of workers hiding their symptoms for fear of being fired by BP.
Yet despite clear evidence of illness from exposure to oil and dispersants, BP refuses to provide respirators to people cleaning up its disaster. Why? Because BP is afraid of the PR impact from images of people wearing this critical safety equipment in pictures and on TV. BP even threatened to fire workers who choose to wear their own

BP has ordered 125 boats from the Venice area to stop cleanup operations immediately and return today for medical evaluation. According to some, this is long overdue, especially since there are numerous reports that BP representatives have refused to allow fishermen to wear respirators on the job. Fishermen say help is still lacking.
Graham MacEwen, a spokesman for BP, says the company isn't providing masks because their air monitoring shows there's no health threats to workers.

When asked at a news conference Sunday about people getting sick while out on the Gulf, BP CEO Tony Hayward had his own theory.
"Food poisoning is clearly a big issue," HE said.
............
He denied Arnesen's accusations that BP has prevented workers from wearing their own masks, saying workers may do so as long as they read training materials on how to use a mask safely.
LINK
The large majority of workers said they were exposed to either emulsified oil mixed with dispersant or odor and fumes from the spill. BP has denied any connection between the spill and the illnesses, saying that the workers were simply falling ill due to "food poisoning."

Congratulations Mud you have now turned into an Otto/Rex hack with those credible links.

Well who knows maybe that a super killer crude that emits radiation and the plague at the same time. Wouldn't really know, haven't really seen a whole lot of it much less smelled it

You're right. I shouldn't speak in certainties unless factual evidence exists. That is what set me off...rushing to accuse scientists and clean up crews of faking. They deserve better.
Let's all keep this board free of hack-like comments. This topic is too important to dumb down.

Of course people are looking to get paid. But, the stats on the workers from the Valdez clean-up are pretty staggering.
Posted on 6/22/10 at 8:33 pm to genuineLSUtiger
Absolutely. No foreign company should come on our shores and spill oil on our coast and use chemicals that hurt our citizens only to have hacks like Cosmo spread misinformation and claim their faking it. If that's not above the politically fueled sentiments of many of the comments on this board, then by all means...keep telling everyone they're idiots for thinking this is a big deal and whatnot. I'll take the word of the people that haven't violated our trust. I don't know they're not faking it but give me a break with the BS.
