Haven't heard much from their AD trying to get in a big league. Seems they always claim to be able to compete with anyone and it also seems this would be a great chance to join one of the major conferences. Why aren't they making a push. Hell, Memphis state tryed harder than Boisie and they get 250 people to a home game.

won't call the MWC a big conference but it is a step up for them........even if Utah is leaving.

I don't follow what your are saying? Boise is leaving the WAC to go to the Mountain West. And I kind of feel sorry for them because now Utah is going to the Pac 10. Had Utah stayed put, the MWC probably could have gotten a BCS bid. I guess a better question is who can the MWC add to replace Utah so that conference is BCS worthy.

Their play on the field speaks for itself; they're 4-1 vs. BCS teams in the past four years. It's clear to them that if they win the games they're supposed to, they'll be in a BCS bowl.

I was unaware that they left the WAC but it seems that a team that continuously goes unbeaten and never gets a shot at the title game would try to get into the PAC 10 or big 12. MWC will never get an automatic bcs bid and you are right they will still get many bcs bowl bids but don't you think eventually they'd like a shot at it all?

it all
a) An undefeated Boise State almost certainly gets a spot in the BCSCG this season.
b) Maybe "it all" doesn't mean anything to a school who views the BCS as a system that doesn't treat all schools equally.

I think their original thinking was by getting into the MWC, the NCAA was going to award that conference with an automatic BCS bowl bid and had Utah stayed, the NCAA would have given them that bid. The MWC in my opinion is the best they could do and it's a good fit for them. That Pac 10 pretty much wants to expand with AAU schools and Idaho is out of the way. And the same for the Big 10. Like I said earlier, I honestly feel kind of bad for Boise. They joined the MWC right before all this expansion BS went nuts. But still the same, that MWC is a good fit for them and I think things will work out fine for BSU. One of the biggest problems with Boise is they are in the middle of the sticks. It's a great city but it just does not line up well with the Pac 10 or Big 10. Boise just needs to keep on winning. They have earned enough respect that they will get in a BCS bowl if they are undefeated and played a decent OOC schedule.

By all means don't let your lack of knowledge interfere with your opinion. WOW.

Ummmm, TCU is already a Mountain West Conference member.

As far as the auto-bids, the NCAA has nothing to do with them. The auto-bids are part of the BCS, which is a seperate entity. I think that, had the 6 Big XII teams left for the Pac-10 then the MWC would have looked to add a few - if not all - of the remaining teams from that conference. This would have left one of the auto-bids "up for grabs." I would have supported the auto-bid to the MWC.

As far as Boise St. trying to get into a BCS conference.....are you serious? Why would any BCS league want them. The market is incredibly small. Sure, they've been successful recently in football. But we all know that it has nothing to do with that when it comes to conference expansion. I think that the MWC is probably the best that BSU can do.

There's a good chance that there will be six BCS bowls next time around (current five + Cotton Bowl); I would expect it to be possible that MWC gets a bid anyway with the autobids looking this way:

Rose: Big "Ten" & Pac-12
Fiesta: choice between MWC and Big East champions
Cotton: Big "12"
Sugar: SEC
Orange: ACC

I would still include an automatic bid for the highest-ranking team outside the seven conferences (+ND) mentioned above, but require the team to be in the top 12 (instead of the current 16) to get the autobid. That way, the other conferences have access to the big bowls, but they have to actually give us one of the 12 best teams in the country (fitting for six bowls).
