I hope so for Tech's sake. The WAC is an even more pathetic conference now. I'm still not sure why Tech didn't get invited to Conference USA when they expanded after the Big East raid. They make no sense in the WAC.

Sunbelt or Conference USA would be better than having to pay to fly to Hawaii to play a freaking softball game

Bottom line for Tech...if they want to move up into a better conference, they have to get the program to where it is consistently competing for WAC championships year in and year out, especially in football and men's basketball. At that point, maybe a Conference USA would take a look. Tech's a tough situation, though. They have ZERO television market pull (something a conference would look at), and they can't even fill the football stadium on opening day hosting an SEC team. I was there when they beat State, and it was 70% full, at the max.

But it is within a 70 miles of a city of 200,000+ plus people and Monroe (53,000) also has a Tech following. Tech is playing a game in Shreveport and attempting to market itself to the city which hasn't been done in the past.

EDIT: Some quick research shows that the Shreveport metro area falls at an estimated population of 391,516, Monroe metro at 174,086 and the Ruston micropolitan at 58,349 for a total of 623,951.

Keep in mind that that game was before school started. Close to a week if I remember right. That was a game that should have been scheduled after more students had returned to campus

It's been marketing itself there and playing games there for 20 years and nothing has stuck. Several years ago, they couldn't get a packed house with No. 2 Miami and hometown boy, Brock Berlin.

They were also competing with the Bayou Jamb that year as well, which was the main factor against a sell out. High school football rules in North La, and competing against it was a blunder by the morons at La Tech. Those guys need some serious marketing help

So now it's high school football that causes low attendance.

One year when they had bad attendance at a game, they used the excuse (I kid you not) that it was the first day of squirrel season.

Of course that was probably true.

Tech has 11,000 students in a city of about 20,000 people. They can only do so much in a conference that brings absolutely no visiting fans. 22,000 is decent and if Tech was closer to Boise it would have been a sellout. I was at the Boise game last year and there were about 200 Boise fans max and Boise fans were the ones that had the best opposition turnout for the year.

Tech does not want to spend the money to get serious about their college sports. They have done better the last 5 years or so but still, it is what it is. President Dan Reneau would rather build a new engineering building than to be decent in sports. Look what they did to Kim Mulkey with that one year contract insult. Yeah, she tells Tech to piss off and goes and wins a national championship at Baylor of all places. LA Tech officials are idiots! I can say this because I went to school there for undergrad and LSU for grad school and it appears to me that at LSU, sports is important and at Tech nobody cares. Bottom line, the WAC has never made sense, and Tech needs to swallow their pride and get in the Sunbelt if the S.B. would have them. To me, La Tech is at the bottom of the Mid Majors out there and the Tech fans and student body can't seem to understand that. Besides, I would rather the state of Louisiana only have one alpha dog football school so that they scoop up the best instate talent.

I think if CUSA were to add teams that Troy will probably be first choice followed by some combination of FAU, MTSU, ULL, Tech, ULM.

Tech really does need to be in a more regional conference, whether it be the Sunbelt or CUSA.

With respect to attendance, the good news is that attendance has been steadily increasing each year for the past few years.

While attendance at Tech games can and should be better, I fail to see how our attendance would keep us out of CUSA when a good number of those schools have a lower avg. attendance than Tech.

THe last year has been significant and should be built upon

Actually it made a lot of sense at one time

And there we get it and to the Tech hate. I am a LSU alumini and a Tech ALumini. TH3e fact is I never get this point. What is LSU fearing. WE ARE THE BEST STATE for high school talent according to LSU fans on here and thus any failure is not acceptable. If that is the case and LSU has so many scholarships to give out there should be an abundance of talent to go around. Do you wish them to go to Miss State and Arky and Bama.

Regardless quality sport programs help the State even if they are not LSU. I am not sure if it just a lack of vision but not seeing this and demanding fellow Louisiana citizens aim to the lowest is a part of a problem that might not be so much LSU based but a much deeper Louisiana problem

That attendance might would improve if they had some teams that were not from another time zone. Nobody cares about going to watch Tech play one of those WAC teams except maybe Boise. Tech's arrogance just kills me. They wont play Louisiana Monroe or ULL or drop down and play Northwestern State to put some butts in the stands because they are scared one of those teams might beat them. The best football days Tech ever had was when they were in the D-IAA Southland Conference when I was a kid. Those were some pretty good rival games. Tech just needs to understand they are not LSU and never will be when it comes to sports and they better get in where they fit in because that WAC is done without Boise.

No this is incorrect. They are not "scared" that ULL or ULM or Northwestern will bat them. Heck to be honest looking at the past year LSU should be more cared that the ULM's or ULL's or LA Tech would beat them.

Tech is not afaid of gertting beat which should be shown by their schedule

Tech does not wish to be "LSU" that is as silly as saying Georgia Tech wants to be Georgia

These scholls have different visions and how to get there as well as different cultures

THe TECH bashing on this board gets as old as the LSU bashing on the Tech board. Both are a minority of Louisiana fans in their viewpoint
