I mean, it's now a tossup with the Big East and Mountain West, right?

IMO, the strength of the conference hasn't suffered as a result of the loss of Nebraska or Colorado.

I'd say it is slightly weaker, but not much. Colorado hasn't been a factor in forever and Nebraska just started putting together some 8-9 win seasons recently.

You're kidding. Nebraska is a Top 15 program and the way Pelini has em going, could be Top 10 soon.

Texas now has their cream puff OOC schedule plus Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa State EVERY year. It's a joke of a conference.

Nebraska was 1 second away from beating tejas in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game last year

Very true. Schools like KSU, KU, Texas, OU, have all been to BCS bowls. And with Bill Snyder back at K-State I'm sure he'll turn that program back into a power.

No. Colorado was no loss. Nebraska was...but they're still a better conference than the Big East is.

BTW, I started this thread as a lark. I know they aren't losing their bid. But some of the responses are funny.

I remember it well. There were some other games that made me think Nebraska had no business being there anyway.

But I'll give you (and everyone else above) your due. Nebraska was a loss, but you can't say that a conference with Texas and OU still in it doesn't deserve a BCS bid. I think there may be another conference we'd need to look at first.

Losing Colorado and Nebraska is not enough to lose the BCS slot.
They still have the Okies and Tex.

The team that was less than a second from knocking off Texas isn't weakening them? Or losing an extra game in a playoff isn't weakening them? I think the Big Ten goes to a championship game and it gives them an advantage, like it has the SEC in polls over teams that don't play one, as it should.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but based on what criteria? The depth of the Big12 has taken a serious hit

Yes! Nobody deserves an automatic BCS bid because the BCS should be pitched! We should have a freaking playoff!

That team was not the same team responsible for this:

Texas_Tech L (31 - 10)
Iowa_State L (9 - 7)

2009 was a better effort, result, etc. than 2008, but it's not like there was any real competition in the North towards in the end of the season.

Nebraska is on an upswing. They're historically a very significant team and made the Big XII a better conference. Losing them was significant.
