Only one player managed to break 100, and it wasn't Saint Drew.
Pretty ugly day for the group...think you could do it?

I could shoot between 89 and 91 there.

I think I could shoot around 86, tips and down

I'm a -7 and I'd be thrilled to break 100 with the way it is set up for the US Open

think i would just take an iron off every tee and add a stroke to par and attempt to shoot 18 over

Black Rating (2010 U.S. Open Championship): 75.5/Slope 145; Yardage - 7,040 (Par 71)
this cant be right. with no us open pressure, i still think it is more like 78. that means that even a 20 handicapper should break 100 occasionally.

Unless the wind blows, pebble isn't that hard of a golf course. See the 92 us open

quote:what you're not factoring in is that the greens for the u.s. open will be infinitely faster than anything a 20 handicapper will have most likely ever played, numerous 3 and 4 putts that they dont normally do at their local club.....plus the rough will be much tougher than the rating would indicate, plus its tipped out

In addition to being fast Pebble's green are tiny poa annua greens. Doubt most folks on here have ever played on poa annua, but it can be worlds different from what we see in the south. Especially in the afternoon when the grass starts to bud and the greens get bumpy.

that doesn't seem bad for a US Open course.....where'd you pull that stat from?

Not sure where that info came from, but here's the official USGA numbers and course/slope ratings

for them. I'm a solid golfer, usually play to around a 5 and I went 82-83 there this year. That was with the course set up as easy as can be. We saw what they were gonna be doing to the course, and i'd be schocked if I broke 100 on it then.
They can make it a nightmare, and after Tiger's romp, i'll bet they do

Ricky Fowler??? I would spend the first nine holes trying to cleave his skull with a long iron. Or just wipe my taint sweat off with the idiotic bill of his fricking hat after 18 holes.

I played Bear's Best in Vegas about 4 years ago. The forecaddy told me while I warmed up "be ready they are rolling a 12 or maybe 13." I have never seen greens like that. The average player has no concept of what a 12 on a stempmeter is like. I sure as hell didn't. Add to it US Open condition greens and severity. I would be happy to putt less than 50 times in a round.
