As of now, it looks like TX A&M is looking at SEC while TX and OU head to Pac 10???

Who does SEC target to get numbers even?

1 more from West....3 from East?

I know this may not be a popular scenario, but what if SEC takes Baylor as part of a deal for TAMU? Baylor has deep pockets and a big influence in state politics.

It is far from over with A&M. I'm thinking it is almost even money with A&M going to the PAC-whatever because of the serious blackmail/pressure Texas is putting on them.

That said, if we assume A&M to SEC....

I think VTech is near the top of the list on the East side.

What remains to be seen is if Slive is looking to keep the breakout even. If so, would Mizzou be considered? Brings potential mkt coverage in KC and St Louis. Very close to Fayetteville and not terrible fan trips length-wise to Lexington, Oxford, etc.

Personally, I'd love to see UNC/Duke/Miami pursued harder on the east.

+1

I would be perfectly content at 14 teams if we are going to do any expansion.

We could add Clemson and Missouri - put them with LSU and Auburn in the Tiger Division.

If we get A&M only we will get VT. A&M to the West. Tech to the East. Done....

If A&M ends up in the Pac 10. Which I still think is the most Likely. We could get Missouri and Viginia Tech. Or nothing could happen. I wouldn't look for anymore than 14.

I personaly don't like the thought of Missouri. But Honestly there would not be much left to pick from.

Fla St., Miami are not going to be in the SEC nor is Ga. Tech, Lousiville. Conference AD's will stick together on those. It comes down to Dollars and expanding. The Clemson's, Fla. St's, Miami's, Ga. Tech's. Lousiville's, do nothing for that.

completely agree with the exception of Miami. and yes I know I'm in the minority here.

Miami tv mkt would be a plus. they don't have much a of true core fanbase, but they most definitely have a "national draw" -- no one can deny this.

And a Miami road trip every 4 yrs would be fun.

And... AND!... did I MENTION THAT FLORIDA DOESN"T WANT MIAMI IN THE SEC? That is all the reason I need.

I think the SEC already has the Miami TV market. And again AD's will stick together that is the only way they get what they want. They don't want another SEC school in their backyard. They want more money and new markets. Miami doesn't bring that.

As a Tennessee Fan. Virginia Tech would be a big game for us. At least in the part of the state where I am.

But if Texas A&M doesn't come I honestly don't know how it could play out. They want a footprint in Texas.....

TAMU, Baylor --> SECW

VT, UNC --> SECE

ETA: I only say Baylor as a sweetner to get TAMU.........this concession may take some pressure off TAMU and put it back on UT to not extort TAMU via game cancellations.

I would support this. However, they won't go without Duke.

What about A&M and TCU?

There are other options out there besides Mizzou in the West...

yes to A&M no to TCU. TCU are a private school plus they don't have the same level of fans that other SEC fans have.

TCU doesn't come close to Mizzou in terms of fanbase size, etc.

I don't think SEC takes more than two. Slive offered Texas and A&M to move Bama and Auburn if they both came. I think that would have left Virginia Tech out. If we get only A&M we take Virginia Tech to even out the East.

If both go to the Pac 10. I don't think TCU or Missouri or Baylor are the type of schools we would really go after. We may just leave it alone. But to me Missouri seems like the best of those three and the closest to what we would want being it gets us in KC and St. Louis. But I still don't think it would be popular choice because they would struggle for years in this conference....

i AGREE. But they still seem like a poor choice.
