A&M's decision impacts a potential Presidential candidate in Rick Perry. This far reaching impact basically because of football. We are not Rome. We are Sparta.

Not to mention some A&M BOR members may lose their jobs if A&M doesn't follow UT

False. Everyone talks about Perry appointing the BOR. Who the frick do you think appointed Perry Governor of the State of Texas. The BOR are not some guys Perry picked up off the street.

So who actually makes the final decision on whether aTm accepts the offer from the SEC? BOR vote, majority wins?

The BOR votes.. Currently it is 6-4 for the SEC.

This. Although I cannot speak to the tally.

Do you seriously have inside info ming?
As for majority/unanimous, A&M BOR votes do not normally require unanimous consent, unless they've got some special rule for this, which I doubt.

I just read that the student regent doesn't get to vote so that would make only 9 votes, correct? So what would that make the tally? 5-4 or 6-3? I'm guessing the former.

Quick google says you're right about the student regent not having a vote. All he/she can do is share opinions on behalf of the student body (we had no such thing when I was a student at A&M).
No idea about the preferences of the voting members. Wish I knew.

Didn't know our governor was considering a run. After the way Dubya was treated, don't know why he'd want the headache.
FWIW, I think he'd make an excellent commander-in-chief.

Should have said Stallings is pro-SEC. Don't know about the others.

Heard Joe Barton on the news tonight say he believes aTm would be better off in the SEC.
Smart man, that engineer Joe.

Barton is an Aggie who used to represent Phil Gramm's old district. And he certainly is not hesitant to meddle in college football, since he wants to haul the BCS in front of Congress.

Yeah, he went on to say that he'd favor 4 super conferences & a playoff that would end the BCS.
