Some were on Anderson Cooper last night ... I do not usually watch him but I did want to see this segment.

Anyway, of the 6 that they interviewed at least 4 or 5 specifically said that they hadn't heard from either BP or TO (which ever their loved one had been employed with). They (well pretty much only the dad of one of the younger victims) also said that they felt confident and reassured by PBO's words and actions. (That I think made me want to ).

Just thought it odd that no rep from the company/ies had made contact with the families. I'm sure there are legal things tied in BUT hell, some personal contact would be nice.

And some were wives, mothers, fathers in the interview ... they all looked remarkably ok at least on the outside. I just don't think I'd be at that point.

One also said to please remember to keep the survivors in thoughts and prayers ...

Just wanted to share.

All but two of the deceased worked for Transocean. I did not see the interview with the families on last night. I do know that one of the deceased families had a lot of contact from Transocean in the early days after the disaster and had a personal Transocean Representative available to them at ant time.

This is why it is nothing more that melodramatic bullshite that some of the family members have been bitching about not having heard from BP since the accident. I am fairly certain that even if BP had been inclined to contact the families, their lawyers WISELY told them not to. Considering some of the public statements of some of the more vocal of the family members, that was sage advice.

It's possible that there is a HOLD HAMRLESS AGREEMENT between Transocean and BP. Appears that all Personal Injury and death claims will be against Transocean At any rate I'm sure the Attorneys representing the families have put BP on notice and told them not to contact their clients

Glad to hear that although I'm still sorry that it happened to begin with. None of the people interviewed last night fit this description ... assuming that those interviewed maybe were "picked" for a reason.

I only know one family.

It may not have been the case with other families. So I don't want it to seem like I know what is going on with each family.

I am sure that those that were on last night feel genuine about the situation and have the right to feel like they have not been treated fairly.

I did not see the interview but I can say that the families have all been contacted by TOI. They had to be to even know to attend the Memorial. Steve Newman spoke personnaly with each family and went to many of their homes.

The extent of the contact or how often they have been contacted I do not know. But to say they haven't been contacted at all is ridiculous.

The high profile father of one of the victims who testified before Congress, Keith Jones, is a personal injury lawyer. Also: LINK

CNN wouldn't let anything negative of Obama be voiced anyway, that's why only one answered the question.

And 2, contacting them would make it seem as though they are taking fault. None of these companies wanted to look like they were to blame and then the lawyers stop all contact unless they are present.

So is his son (deceased's brother), Christopher Jones.

No surprise they are the two highest profile and most vocal about this.

What are you trying to say? Their grief and anger is not genuine b/c they happen to be attorneys?

Not at all, I am certain that it is genuine.

It is the fact that they happen to be attorneys that compels them to openly rant and rave to ever camera and microphone placed in front of them.

Has to be horrible for these families. They are constantly reminded about their loses when they turn on the TV and see the news of how bad this leak has gotten.

I agree Joe .. these mothers/wives/dads looked like they were dealing with things very well ... they were smiling and laughing when talking about their loved one. I really think that I would be on heavy duty drugs. Prescription of course.
