Houston Chronicle Tonight

quote:

The Southeastern Conference is very much in play for A&M, while Texas is at least mulling the possibility of joining the Big Ten or SEC, one person with knowledge of the situation said Thursday.

Ouch!
quote:

“This is a classic example of greed and the almighty dollar,” Baylor women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey told the Waco Tribune-Herald. “It starts with people who make decisions at Nebraska and Texas. For people who talk about academics, this is not about what’s in the best interest of each student-athlete or the Big 12. It’s about money.
“If it’s about academics, Baylor would be included in an invite to the Pac-10. There are people who will be invited to the Pac-10 that Baylor has a better academic university than. It’s about greed, and shame on the people at the top. They don’t need to preach another day about student-athletes.”

I still say Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and maybe OSU will decide to join the SEC. It makes no sense other then money for them to join the PAC 10. And I don't think money will over come what the fans of Texas want, and that is to be closer in travel distance for their games.

They'd make more money in the SEC than they would in the Pac 10.

And now there's a story all over the Oklahoma boards saying Josh Heupel was being interviewed by the local news and said Oklahoma to the SEC.

This is hilarious. Kind of entertaining though.

Baylor is not being invited to the Pac 10 because Berkeley has vetoed them because they are Baptist run.

also true, but they tried to claim Baylor was a better athletic and academic program than Colorado - which leads you to question anything else they have to say from that point forward

I find it hilarious that the self-righteous dirty hippies at Berkeley are so blatantly prejudiced against BYU and Baylor.

Earlier when there was a link to a A&M forum I looked at it for a second and they had a link to a Baylor forum which had their new SEC conference projections

SEC WEST

Bama
Auburn
Baylor
LSU
Ole Miss

SEC East the usual suspects plus Va Tech

Baylor would be lucky to get into the Big East based off what they bring to the table. Thinking they'd get into the SEC unless they come along with UT and A&M is hilarious and pathetic at the same time.

What in the hell does Conference affiliation have to do with Academics??? Are there BCS Scholar's Bowl games that I'm unaware of?

Friggin' nobody cares about your academics when you're making bowl selections...and sports are the reason for conference affiliation.

If we grab some ACC teams, Vandy will slide over into the West in order to keep the divisions balanced.

I think it was Baylorfans.com but I can't find the thread now, it was some deal where it was posted on an Aggies forum and there are so many threads on there about it that I don't even know where to start looking.

There is a thread about the SEC taking Baylor by itself on there because of academic stuff mainly but most people shoot the guy down.

Chip Brown is still insisting that Texas is going nowhere but the Pac-10. In his latest tweet he continues to claim that it's all Texas A&M's fault for the hold up with the Pac-10 expansion.

I think I saw the same thread on Baylorfans, the "logic" was that the SEC was so desparate to get into texas that if ut/a&m/tech all went to the pac16 we'd have to take them

Texas is starting to hear from their fans and Slive is getting new numbers from CBS & ESPN. Texas is coming to the SEC.

West:
OK
OK St
UT
TAM
LSU
Miss
Miss St
Ark
Vandy

East:
Bama
Barn
Tenn
UGA
UF
USCe
UK
VT

Best case IMO

Edited: Bay caught me in a dumb moment. Somehow dropped USCe off the map. Screw a 16 go 18 LMAO, Doubtful it ever happens. If it did though with all the talk of a super conference that would pretty much be the mold I think.
