Oklahoma and Virginia Tech

adds a team to each division. both are schools that can already compete with the sec year in and year out. Eventually they would embrace the SEC mold. Both are new markets and both border states already in the SEC. what say you?

I would rather OU and Miami. I'd take Miami market over Blacksburg, VA.

I'd gladly take Oklahoma. Don't think we get them though.

I'd take the state of Virgina market over Miami's and thats what you would get. I agree that these are the two that we have the best shot at who would help us the most.
I think GT or Clemson might be an easier pick up but agree that having a brand new market would be better

I can see it, but dont understand why. Basically every major source is saying they would rather go to the SEC. I dont understand it though if their two main rivals are destined for the pac 10

I just don't see U.M. in the mix - they do not have the required number of sports required by the SEC and no on-campus stadium ... that's all.

Clemson would be one I would highly consider.

Adding new teams should be about conference prestige and new TV markets. It doesnt look like we're going to get any of the Texas or NC schools so OU and VT would be the best logical picks. Adding anymore than 14 would be adding TV markets we already have thus defeating the point of expansion

As far as prestige goes, I still believe if the best of the big 12 and pac 10 form the Big West the SEC would still be the best conference.
UF, Bama, LSU is => USCw, Texas, OU
UGA, Auburn, Tenn, arky >> Oregon, UCLA, OSU, A&M
OM, MSU, Kentucky, Vandy, USCe >Oregon st,. stanford, Baylor, Col., TT

And thats if OU doesnt come to the SEC. If we added just about anyone worth a frick, 14 would be more than enough to continue being the best

a whole new TV market. Not just the state of Virginia, but DC and maryland are flooded with Tech fans. They are also a better program than the popular GT and Clemson and are on par with FSU and Miami.
If I could have it my way I'd take UNC for my east team, but that doesnt seem possible. My next pick for an east team would be VT simply because this expansion is about prestige and TV. Thats a TV market we dont even touch and they would give us the same prestige Miami or FSU would

Somebody else had made this statement, but if the SEC got to 16 by adding Oklahoma and another team West of the LA/AR border and then add two teams in the East, say VT and FSU, it could break into 4 sub-divisions, 2 in the East and two in the West.

The winners of the sub-divisions could play in SEC East and SEC West Championships in Atlanta and Dallas, respectively. Then, the winners could play in the SEC Championship in another city, possibly New Orleans.

In getting to 16 teams, the SEC would basically be creating its own playoff system and in doing so would add 2 national spotlight games.

I don't feel like flying to Miami every few years. Gainsville is far enough.

An interconference playoff would be SICK.

If we got OU, A&M for west, Va Tech and FSU in East there is NO WAY any conference could compete with us (in football).

WV and ND should also join Big ten.
No reason Rivalries can't be sustained with OOC games. Especially since they won't count as respective conference losses.
