It is here. I haven't been able to go take pics yet, but between yesterday and today oil has started washing ashore on Pensacola Beach.

quote:

Pensacola Beach is open. However, due to significant quantities of emulsified oil in near shore waters and/or along the shoreline, Gulf waters from Park West (Fort Pickens gate) recreation area through walkover 23 (just west of Portofino) are closed to all swimming and wading until further notice.

I did see one official looking person riding a 4-wheeler with trash looking bags on the back, not sure if it was oil related.

That's just the beach garbage man. Those dudes are always rolling around collecting the trash from the containers on the beach.

I know, terrible right.

While Googling for an update, it looks like visit Pensacola does a daily update. They also have some other informative stuff on there. And no, I do not work for them!

Great to hear all is well in Pensacola. I visit there once a year at least for beach / golf.

This is the calm before the storm. There is a large plume of oil that is closing in on Pensacola.

Shitty, but not shocking news.

This Cherish Lombard chick is pretty hot, though.

I hear ya. It seems like it shows up in waves. It is only a matter of time before the mass of it starts hitting the shores. I keep hoping the tides/ currents will keep it at bay, but there is just to much of it out there. Like I said, I will still give an update when it gets shity. Just so there is some candid/ non-media info out there.

My Brother just got back from Destin yesterday and he said the beaches there and at Ft. Walton were fine.

I was born in Pensacola and spent my first 10 years there. I'm glad to see that so far it hasn't been affected. I fear it will change.

The projection for Monday looks ominous.

We go to Seaside every August......I love the Panhandle and am so fricking disgusted. I dread being heartbroken when everything gets fricked.

Being in Houston, South Padre is a pathetic replacement.

I LOVE the beach and I am pissed......I wish I could've snuck away here recently to get in one last vacation for what COULD be years without.
